Root Can't put any custom roms on my device

Hey,

I rooted my phone using the guide on this forum and that worked great (except from having a blackscreen when I'm in CWM recovery, but fixed this with Droid@screen).

I made a backup using CWM, and it's a good thing I did this!!!

I'm trying to install a custom rom om my phone, but everytime after installing the custom rom the phone won't start up anymore (it's stuck on a blank screen with the HTC logo for hours) and I have to restore my backup to get my phone working again.

I've tried the following roms:

  • SpeedDroid JB V1
  • MIUIv4-marvel-2.7.6-odex
None of them work.

Is there any rom you guy's can suggest to try again?

Maybe there's something wrong with the procedure I follow to install the rom... I do it this way:

  1. I copy the zip-file of the rom to the root of my SD-card (for example SpeedDroid JB V1.zip)
  2. I boot my phone into the bootloader and I start "recovery"
  3. I choose the option: "wipe data/factory reset"
  4. After that I choose: "wipe cache partition"
  5. After that I choose: "advanced" and "Wipe Dalvik Cache"
  6. Then I choose: "install zip from sdcard" and "choose zip from sdcard"
  7. Then I scroll down to my file "SpeedDroid JB V1.zip" and it starts installing it
  8. When it's finished I reboot my phone, and then it's stuck on the blank screen with the HTC logo
Am I doing something wrong, or am I just using the wrong roms?

Thanks for your advice!

Kind regards,
drunkenMonkey

Hey drunkenMonkey! Just a heads up, I moved your thread to the All Things Root section for your device. Thanks for understanding. :)

No problem! I'm sorry for posting in the wrong section.

I'm just hoping for a solution for my problem. I just tried another ROM (cm-7-20120717-UNOFFICIAL-marvel) but with the same problem!

I even tried installing a ROM from the CWM Rom manager I found in de play store, but this isn't bringing any solutions either.

Just stuck on the blank screen with the HTC logo. I must be doing something wrong... but I have no clue what :-(

Unfortunately,on WFS with black recovery you can install just roms based on stock rom.The roms based on cm7,cm9,miui doesn't start.Nobody knows why.I own too this wfs,and I tried with succes:WildChild roms,EQDKP roms.Search on XDA for more informations.

CM9 works great on the wfs metro version. im using it right now. I was having a similar problem not being able to install any rom: follow this its super simple...... Worked with Cm9 Alpha 7

Code:
1- open the update-cm-9"""""""""""""""""""""""""".zip
2- open META-INF >com>google>android.
3- copy the updater-script to your desktop.
4- download notepad ++ from here http://notepad-plus-...oad/v6.1.2.html
5- after installing notepad ++ right click on updater-script that you previusly copy in your desktop and open with notepad ++
6- delete the first line
7- save it
8- delete the one from update-cm-9""""""""""""""""""""""""""""".zip and copy the one from your desktop
9- close it and done

did the first line removel worked for you? i also own a same device and having problems installing any ROM except that which are based on Stock Roms

You are done all steps correctly.

You can try this after your step 5.
Select power off, remove and replace the battery and continue to step 6.

If it doesn't work then try a 'Factory reset' after first boot of the custom ROM.

It did for me, twice already with CM9 ALPHA7 & ALPHA8. Just try it doesn't hurt i will suggest backing up just in case, but it worked great anyways. That first line is model verification...some how is not reading model properly. So all you're doing is skipping that model verification check.
