Help Can't read barcodes/camera won't focus

I can't seem to read barcodes with any reader, for some reason camera will not focus, I can scan from the net, but have to make screen 200%.
Using motorola droid 1. When I first got phone, I was able to scan, now cam won't focus. Is there some settings I am missing?

Have you tried changing the focus settings in the camera app? "Auto focus" is the one that comes to mind first.
