Help Can't remove screen lock pin

duncspur

Lurker
I'm running Android 5.0.1 on my Samsung S4. I put on a pin lock but now want to take it off. However, I can't seem to find out how to do it.

If I go Settings>MyDevice>Personalisation>Screen lock it just says 'Secured with Pin'. There is no option to remove this.

If I try under Settings>More>Security>Device Administrators, it just has Android Device Manager ticked.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the pin lock please?

Thanks in advance,

Duncan

try clearing credentials. That worked for me, although I have no idea why it was greyed out without doing that I never noticed until I read this and tried removing my pattern lock. If that doesn't work try removing guest too.

I've looked under Security and Clear credentials is greyed out and nothing happens if I try and click it. I'm not sure I know how to remove Guest (but can't see it anywhere either).

If you scroll your notification panel and short cuts down and press your user pic at top right and switch to guest, then scroll it down again and select remove guest.

Thanks but I don't seem to have a user pic! If I drag down the top I just get the short cuts (Wi-Fi, Location, Sound, etc). There's no user pic - is another way to users?

I don't think there is a user pic on 5.x mate (i dont have one) but I don't have a guest account set up
EDIT there is a tiny blue smiley face at top right that does the same thing

Hmm, it should be there, right at the top, it's an implemented feature in Lollipop. I have Sony and I know my dads Samsung is different layout but yes, there should be "Users" somewhere in settings, under "Device" subcategory?

Yea that will be the one, before I changed the picture I think mine on Sony was a grey silhouette.
Also, sorry I didn't see your message before but clear credentials should be in security menu. Mine before I fiddled around trying this wasn't greyed out, but for some reason it now it, perhaps you scrolled over it with it being grey?

I think I may be going mad! I've got no blue smiley face, no grey silhouette and I've been through every menu and there's no mention of users! Should I just backup and reset?

Lol You don't have this little dude (im on a custom operating system but should be similar)

Oh it's not a smiley face but it's blue :)
(pull down the top bar twice to get this screen btw)

No! I'm starting to feel left out! Here's what I have (nothing really happens if I try and pull the top bar down twice). The second shot is what I get if I click on the four squares.....

Right sorry I'm not a Samsung user but there are 10000s here who will help soon.
What does the square broken into four squares do at top right of your 1st (top) screenshot?
EDIT scrap that I just read your post properly..

We need some Samsung users here!

.... Or if you don't have much to back up you could reser but that's not a fix n we prefer to fix things here so have some patience

Nah bro I just looked in the quick settings pull-down tbh. Anything else you want me to check?
