Help Can't restore data after factory reset

shifty11

Lurker
So my S3 almost became unusable since it was freezing every second for some reason so I decided to give a factory reset. I used Kies and MyBackUp app to back up the data, contacts etc. But after reseting the phone I can't restore any of the data through Kies nor MyBackUP bro. I backed the data onto the SD card but MyBackUp can't locate the data for some reason.

I'm desperate to get my contacts back and any help would be greatly appreciated!

Were the contacts not syncd to google? In a file explorer like the My Files app, in Ext Sd Card can you find a folder named Mybackup? And does it contain a back up file?

I' going to come across like an idiot but I didn't sync to Google. I thought using Kies and MyBackUp would be enough. It's odd, I can see all the data on the SD card yet I can't see a folder named MyBackup. I don't care about everything else, just the contacts mainly!

This is where my knowledge runs out lol but im sure someone else can help to get mybackup to find the data :)
Good luck

Nothing comes up in the restore section for me to select. When I search for the folder I can see all the music and photos and contacts there. Quite odd really. It's driving me crazy.

There should definately be a MyBackup folder in SD or Ext SD though.. if not, it seems like the backup didnt work so since the Kies backup files are definately on your pc, thats probably your best chance of getting the contacts back. Ive never restored anything from Kies though. I hate the software lol

I have the correct path I believe. But still no good. I'm with you funkylogik, Kies is a massive pain the back side! I used it before but this time it has really let me down. Never using it again!

I was wondering what can I do with a .SPB file? The contacts are saved in that format on my Mac.
