I have been dabbling in Roms lately and have succesfully bounced between several ROMS and my nandroid backups. after the latest ROM, i wanted to revert to the backup (stock) that i did before flashing the custom. i reboot phone into clockwork and select restore and select correct backup. it says it completes the task but when i hit reboot, no matter what i do it reboots back into clockword instead of booting to the phones os. any suggestions? TIA.

Your backup is bad. One common reason is you did not have enough space on your SD card. If you have 400mb open and the backup takes 550mb, you will never know. CWM will go through all of the steps, and never tell you that the backup was never truly completed. Try using an other backup to make sure that works.
