Root Can't root after OTA ICS

So I could not get my Bionic to install the ota ICS update and after several downloads and failed loading attempts, Verizon sent me a new one. I did not root before installing the new update and now I can't get it rooted with ICS. I've tried both Droidrazrroot and razrs edge several times. I used Pete's one click on my previous bionic but from what I've read, it wont work with ICS. Can anyone help please?

Do a web search for 'motofail ics' or 'razrs edge bionic' and you will find many links. I used the latest razrs_edge_windows.zip and it worked perfectly on the .246 OTA. You didn't state what op system you are using, but it can be done on a Mac also with mac-based tools.

Well. the motofail dosen't work either. I get the open terminal saying:

press any key to continue
waiting for device
daemon not running. Starting it now
daemon started successfully

And then nothing happens. I'm wondering if I have issues with the motorola driver. I updated a couple of times woth moto's device manager.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Connect your phone as "Media Device (MTP)" not "Mass Storage" and in Settings/Developer Options make sure you have "USB debugging" selected.

How are you running Motofail? Have you unzipped the file to a folder? Are you double-clicking the run.bat file from file explorer, or are you opening a command prompt and running it from there?

(That said, I do not know if Motofail is able to root the 246 ICS update...)

I'm using the one click version of Motofail for ICS. It opens the command prompt terminal right to the "press any key to continue" line. Strangely, I can only get the daemon to run once before having to restart my laptop. The first time I open it, it says "daemon started successfuly" but wont progress from there. If I try to open it again, it'll say "waiting for device" and likewise nothing will happen.

I'm still wondering whether my Motorola drivers are functioning correctly and how I'd know? I'm running Windows 7 on an Asus G73sw with icore 7 and I've had some trouble with other drivers on this particular computer.

Any imput on that front?

Have you tried a different USB cable and a different port.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've tried all 3 USB2 ports and the USB3 port with no success. I've tried reinstalling the MotorolaDeviceManagerversion 2.2.28 several times.

When I check my windows device manager, it looks like it may be installing the 32 bit version but I'm not sure. Do you have any recommendations for that?
