Root Cant root, is it the latest ota software update?

I have tried rooting my dinc for 8 hours now, no luck, I have tired everything everywhere, reflash shows, found dinc, waiting reboot, running pre root, waiting reboot, running root, then just sits there and show - waiting root. have let it run for over and hour a couple times, no go, reflash just sits there at that point.
I have done everything by the book, including re downloading unrevoked.

Anyone try to root after installing the latest ota software update?

maybe thats the problem and need to wait for unrevoked to update there program?

After receiving the OTA yesterday and finally getting fed up with the bullshit apps they force on there I spent most of the night trying to root. I ran into the same problem you did, stuck at "waiting for root..." and I tried every suggestion I could find. Looks to me like unrevoked needs to update their procedure.

If I wanted to revert back to original 2.2 how could I do that? I would think I would need to do a master reset which would kinda suk
Any other way to do it?

Sounds like my best bet is wait for unrevoked to put out an update to the 3.21 reflash
I wonder how long it will take them.
Would be nice if unrevoked website had more then just download, something like a status update area or report a problem section or something

Folks, it may not be that "unrevoked needs to put out an update", the more likely scenario is that the weakness they exploited to gain root has been closed by the OTA and we'll have to wait for a new weakness to be found...

Did you have s-off before the update? If so, you can download recovery and superuser from xda-developers and install them (instructions on the site as well as all over). That's what I did. It works perfectly.

I wasnt rooted before the ota. I was on stock 2.2. I wanted to see what the update would do for the phone before I rooted, and now I have to wait for a fix from unrevoked.

On the upside, Im glad to see the OTA fixed the charging times

I'm in the same boat; decided to root after the VCAST OTA, deciding against the bloatware. I tried for 4 hours on both a PC and Mac. No luck on either. Hopefully the unrevoked team gets a release out there pretty quick...

Thank the lord that I found this thread! I have been trying to root for the last 15 hours or so and get stuck at the "waiting to root...(safe to bla bla bla)." I have been to every site, followed all directions and nothing.

So, it is fact that if you have the newest OTA update for Incredible, we need to wait for unrevoked 3 to update?

from what I have read so far, Yes we have to wait for unrevoked to update the 3.21 reflash

I rooted before the update and now after the update hboot still shows s-off. Do I just need to get super user installed? If so how? The driver is correct on my computer only problem happens is when launching unrevoked flash it can't see that my phone is connected. Please help. Any advice is awesome.

super user is in the market.
first thing you need to do is flash a custom recovery through hboot.

So even with the s-off. Still need to wait for unrevoked to update the flash? Or can I load a new recovery another way? What recovery do i need to use? Any how too's you can provide the link too? Thanks.

Well, I guess we could downgrade to 2.1 - use unrevoked 3 to root - then manually install 2.2!

You could do that, Im waiting for an update to unrevoked, I like the new ota update, the charge time is greatly improved, hate the bloatware tho, unrevoked will take care of that when they update the reflash

Unfortunately since the OTA update you can not "roll back" to 2.1 or the original 2.2. The stock recovery will no longer allow you flash the old versions onto your phone.

Except for the charging issue being addressed. After the OTA the phone charges 3 times faster

if all you want is the charging speed then it is in the new Kernal. I have had the 3 times faster speed the second i flashed it. I don't know where it is at the moment (can't search right now because I'm doing something) but it's kernal 2.6.32.17

download, flash and you will have the speed.

What sucks is that my phone is super laggy after trying to use the unrevoked and failing. It pisses me off how slow the phone is now.
