can't screen mirror to Sony TV

Just acquired a Sony Bravia KDL50R550A TV. It has wifi and I am trying to get screen mirroring from the S4 to go.

When I play a video on the S4 I have the mirroring icon in the top left corner:

If I press it the TV responds immediately and the S4 displays this:

When I select the TV as the destination, after a couple of seconds the S4 shows:

and the TV reports "Registration failed".

it works fine with an hdmi cable but not over the wifi.

There seems to be some doubt as to whether the S4 can mirror to the sony TVs (the TV brochure mentions S4 mirroring, but if you read the sentence carefully it is only in the context of a MHL wired connection), but it looks like I am so close.

Does anyone know if this can be done?

no, the S4 is not rooted, and yes, the tv is smart. It has DLNA and wifi.

Has it worked prior to trying it on this tv or is this the first time you've tried to use it?

My S4 won't Mirror to an Actiontec Screenbeam Wireless Pro either.

I am also having trouble with the new KDL-46W905A although S3 users seem to be able to. Looks like a common reported issue. When I have screen mirror active on the TV the S4 does not see the TV when I turn on the phones screen mirror

However, whilst messing the other night I managed to get full screen mirroring it to work (rather than just individual images and videos media streaming style).

Unfortunately, I've since been unable to get it working again!!!

So, it does work, but it seems something in the S4 is causing problems - any suggestions anyone? May be a firmware issue?
