Help Can't see all files on SD card in Windows Explorer

tutmarie

Newbie
I would like to transfer some files from my phone's SD card and have selected USB mass storage. However, I can only see 5 folders:
.android_secure
DCIM
LOST.DIR
Music
rerware

Any ideas on how I get to see all the other folders?

What folders are you actually looking for? Don't think there are any more folders than those unless you create them, hidden or not. There are hidden files in the Android_secure folder which you should be able to see through Windows explorer.

That said, shouldn't you actually be creating folders for your use? Since you are already connected through the PC, and the phone acts like a thumbdrive, just treat it as such. Right click and choose add folder... etc.

Not sure if that's what you want.

When I look at /sdcard in My Files on the phone, I can see more than 30 folders for different apps etc. That's what I want to see in explorer so I can copy files to my computer.

That's the internal storage volume; external cards are mounted as /sdcard/external_sd.

With the handset connected to the PC via USB, you should have two removable drives visible in Explorer. The first will be the internal volume, the second the external card.

Aha, now I get it! The internal storage is called sdcard too, that's the logic I didn't catch. So I've been saving files to the internal storage when I though I was saving to the external card. Silly. Thank you!

I have a similar problem of not being able to see the hidden partition or hidden folders on my SDCARD when I pull the card from my phone and directly into my Windows Vista Desktop PC (media reader). The only folders shown are DCIM and perhaps a couple folders I may have created before. None of the Android system folders are showing.

If I check the properties of the microsd card in windows explorer it shows the capacity of the card as smaller than actual capacity. The total capacity shown depends on how much data is stored in hidden folders or partition. For example I have approx 1.5GB of files stored in a folder called "Download" which is where my android browser saves images and documents by default, then the capacity of my 2GB card shows up at 500MB when the sdcard is plugged directly into my PC. I cannot see the contents of the Download folder on the microsd card. Its completely invisible. I have Enabled the explorer option to "Show Hidden files and folder".

The phone does not connect well as a USB device to my computer because there are no drivers published by MetroPCS or Huawei yet for this model.

Huawei Premia 4g

Thanks
