Hang in there. I don't believe it is a Verizon issue at all. My wife, daughters, and my mom all have dumbphones, on Verizon, and they have not had any issues sending pictures at all. But it seems people with HTC smart phones ARE having this issue.

Just need to keep trying and searching. There has to be an answer somewhere...
Has anyone figured this out yet? I am having the same problem. "Unable to send message - retrying. Generic Network Failure" comes up whenever I try to send a photo. Regular texting seems to work fine. I have a Wilson amplifier so I always have a very good 3G signal - that isn't the problem.

I have uninstalled Quick Settings and Quick Battery and also eBuddy Messenger. I did a soft reset after each uninstall. I still can't send a picture.

My phone is an unrooted Dinc with 2.2 and no other issues at all. I love it except for this one little glitch. This has been an ongoing problem for as long as I can remember. I send very few photos so I'm not sure when it first happened.

I should add that it makes no difference what size the pics are. It won't send an 8MP pic or a ridiculously small picture but it will compress both.

I am also having this problem. 4 days ago I could send/receive pic messages just fine. I have tried different texting apps, uninstalled handcent- reinstalled handcent, called verizon 2 times and done a complete reformat to take my phone back to factory settings. Each time it works fine for a couple of hours and then stopped receiving again.

After reading the previous posts, I have uninstalled the camera 360 app and have been able to get a pic message. I am going to go through all of my apps and check the permissions.

Keeping my fingers crossed...

Droid Incredible/unrooted

Hi,

This is not just a Verizon issue. I am with T Mobile on a my touch on their 4 g network. Had no problem sending pics that I knew of until about 4-5 days ago. Can't even send to myself... Nothing that I knew of was changed on my phone at all.. Getting the general network failure message as well.

What is going on?

So I have had same generic network failure problem been all over the net to find a solution and this is what worked for me. I downloaded handcent then uninstalled it and kept getting GNF messages. So....

1. Go to your menu and go into settings.
2. Then click on applications. Then application management.
3. Go to the 'ALL' tab and scroll down to your original messages app.
4. After going into the messages app click on clear data.

I did this and I can send pictures now. No more generic failures or anything it feels great lol FYI this will not delete your messages .. hope it helps!!

Yes. I have T-mobile My Slide 3G. The solution mentioned worked for one message I
sent. Not shure if it will do it again. I was able to send a picture to another T-mobile
user. You would think this would not be an issue with smartphones. Let ya know if
I can still do it. Watchout, Peggy is out there waiting to answer your quetion...LOL

I can't believe this worked... I have been dealing with this for months now!!!!! Oh well, I guess next time I will search instead of complaining... Dang you interwebz for being right

I'm running into the same problem. For the people who are getting the error message, do you have the Mobile Network off?
I rather have it off and use my home Wifi instead but I kept getting the error message. Then I turned on the mobile internet and they pic messages went through.

I thought I wouldn't need wifi or mobile network on to send messages.

Also I've tried everything it get this to work properly, like what people say on this forum and others and had no luck!

So I have been having this prob for a month now, and I really couldnt fix it. Tried evrything I could think of. Tried everyting suggested inhere, and still no luck.
How ever..................................................................................................
I got it to work again and now im spamming pics cause im way behind.
Reset the phone to the (dunno whats it called in english) but u know, restet it.
Then I installed handcent, and disabled the basic sms on the phone, Bingo freaking Bango, it works. Hope it works.

I had the same problem with sending and recieving media messeges, after playing around with resolution and service providers i finnally fixed it. I uninstalled all my extra camera apps, such as instagram and go camera, and made sure my 3g was toggle. It had worked so far.
