Help Cant set Music Ringtone?

I believe some folks have mentioned that an "unrooted" phone has a max file size that can be used for a ringtone. My suggestion is to snag RingDroid that provides a slick little edit to snag a sample from a music file, then it automatically stashes it in the correct place (to be accessible as a ring or notification). Astro (outstanding file manager) will also prompt for a Music Options on a music file you long-tap, and one of the subsequent options is Set as Ringtone.

go to settings > sound and display > voice call ringtone

mine has all the ringtones ive made in there. i use ringdroid to make them, it gives you an option to set your ringtone as the one you just made also

So, it looks like you can see these ringtone and set them for a call, but how about a SMS message? I dont see the ones I created in that listing but I do see them in the call ringtone list. What gives?

Ringtones are specifically for the phone, Notifications are for things like SMS, email, etc.

Two separate folders!

I made the Ringtones folder, but even when I select to set them as my Voice Call Tone or Notification it doesn't work. The files don't show up in Media Player or Ringdroid either. They are .mpga created using mobile17.com

get app called astro. it has option to let you set music as ringtone regardless of any size. and u dont have to deal with making 'ringtone' folder. no rooting required.

Thanks so much for posting this. I tried for two days to get my lost ringtones back...

For anyone else who has this issue make sure you name your new folders "Ringtones" and "Notifications" Use the plural.
