Help Can't set speed-dials

Lurker
I have JB, rooted.

I am trying to set the speed dials (keypads 2-8 speed dial numbers), but I can't.

1) I have clicked into the menu while on the dialer screen, but there isn't an option to "Set Speed Dial"...only "Add to Contacts" and "Settings:

2) I have tried long holding a key pad to get a context sensitive menu...and nothing.

3) I have tried long holding a previously dialed number and nothing.

Do I have a software fluke or is there some setting I'm missing???

The speed dial features went bye bye with Jelly Bean. Makes no sense, but what do I know.

Jelly Bean has some new widgets to take the place, but you will probably have to make a new screen for them, or use the favorites option when you open the phone app.

I actually like the Direct Dial widget better. I don't have to open the phone app before using the speed dial, I can just dial from the main screen with one touch.

I've discovered that the direct dial widgets are stackable. So, you can drag each new widget on top of the current. Then just tap on the stack to reveal the 5 or 6 (in my case) and tap who you want to call. Faster than the old speed dial if you are working from your home screen. However, there is still something to be said for the traditional speed dial.
