Hi guys. Something happened to my phone. I left it in the charger over night and it's dead now. The battery was very very hot when i removed it, and it was melt at the top, near the water indicator. Now i cant turn on the phone, because the battery is dead, but when i connect it to the computer the red notification light stays constant and nothing happens. I also have to mention that connecting it to the pc there's no white light at the connector and the back of the phone near the connector starts to heat up badly even when the battery is removed. i haven't tried it with other battery or wall charger. Do you have any ideas? does the phone turn on without battery when connected to pc? thanks for the help!

Sounds like you need a new battery. I have a device which just charges the battery instead of plugging your phone in. It's only seven pound from hong kong and you get two batteries with it. If not, I suggest you take it to a store, although they'll make you pay an arm and a leg just to look at it.

Batteries are like $5 on amazon for Original Droids. They might come up as Droid 2 batteries, but it's the same battery.

If the damage is more extensive than that, you might need a new phone. Try calling VZW (don't go to the store, you won't have much luck), and see if this is under warranty, or insurance can cover it. It's better than buying a new phone off contract/full retail.

Keep us updated on how this turns out! Sorry about the damage, bud...
