I'm using the linux distribution Ubuntu 10.10, but when I try to transfer files to the Desire HD, I get the message: Permission denied.
Since I'm using Linux, I can't install HTC Sync. Anyone have any suggestions?

On my Linux (Knoppix) PC an USB device I have to mount as drive with write permission.
That's the only way to tranfer files.

Did you fix this?
I used Ubuntu 10.10 and have no problems. Conect phone -> Select Disk Drive -> Shows as 8.0GB Disk -> Open Folder -> Drag and Drop both ways works ok.
If you still having problems open Nautilus as root and try again.

I haven't solved it yet, but I haven't tried either.
Now I use Dropbox to transfer files, it's boring and it takes long time, but it works at least.

It worked fine when I opened Nautilus as root like you said. Thanks a lot :)

install an ftp server on linux then install es file explorer on your dhd. connect through wifi (or 3g is you configure your router firewall) and you can transfer files to and from each device. use es file explorer all the time - best app i have
