Can't update my rom :(

I currently have installed version of Gingerbread 2.3.6.
Though I can download the update available but unable to install. While rebooting installation fails after 24%. What should I do now..?
in order for use to help you better we need to know what phone you have.

Welcome to the forums.
If you've rooted your phone and/or changed some of the default files, then the original update file, if that is what your trying to install, will probably not work.
If you plan on using the over the air updates, you have to return you phone back to its default rom status.
If your installing a custom rom, then the problem may be a bad download, the wrong rom for your device or something of that nature. It's very important to follow the devs instructions when installing custom rom. Do not assume that you can leave out steps that you don't feel like following.
