Help can't update to 2.1 (GT540) n ...

hi, i'm new here. when i'm trying to update using LG mobile update it's says software update is not supported to this model.

when i search the internet i come to this site n it says GT540 can be upgraded to 2.3. Is it really stable to upgrade my os to 2.3? which version is more stable 2.1 or 2.2?

i buy the phone from the internet(demo set) about 5 days ago, n consume my credit about 1++ x|. how to use wifi only(no 3g,gprs n etc) for internet.

btw I can't transfer file from hp to my laptop, becoz when I click to removable disk, it says insert disk to removable drive(already tried tick/untick mass storage and USB debugging )

#sory if i'm asking to many q, i'm from malaysia btw n i'm buying this phone becoz it has Android(luv to learn new things) :D

1.Well, that's a lie The GT540 it's not getting 2.3 and 2.2 , just 2.1 and even then, it's up to your carrier to release the update

2.Drag the notification bar, and turn on WiFi, go to settings>wireless>mobile data>disable it

3. Try to use another USB port

alrdy tried to use another port, still can't transfer files

topic close, succesfully upgrade to 2.1 now.. thank a lot guys :D
btw to stop data charges I hve to go to setting>wireless&network>mobile network right? juz disable mobile network?
