Can't update?

My friend is having problems updating to the newest version that supports multitouch on his X10i. He says that when he connects his phone to PC companion he doesn't get a message saying there's a new update available. Using OTA doesn't work either, his phone says there are no new updates.

Does anybody know what is causing this? He's on 2.1 already

He most probably has a branded handset.

My X10 was branded by T-Mobile (UK) and they have not yet released the latest update. So I de-branded my handset to allow me to update. If he wants to de-brand, search the X10 section of the forum, or maybe someone else will post it in here

I have Generic world firmware (it is not branded to any carrier) and i have the same problem. SEUS and pc companion tell me that i have latest software which is not the case.
