Help Can't view received SMS messages

As of yesterday, I don't seem to be able to see any of my received SMS text messages other than on the preview screen. If I clear the preview screen, I can't see the message again.

I'm using Handsent as my SMS app, but the problem appears in Messenger as well, so not app specific. I can see all of my outgoing messages, but, beyond yesterday morning, no incoming messages are showing.

I CAN reply via the preview screen, I *think* I can reply via the SMS app.

I'm on KitKat on EE in the UK.

Anyone got any suggestions on how to fix??

Try Step #1 in #1.3 of the Update Problems - Dummies Guide. Do this step for both Handcent SMS and Messaging.

If that is not successful, then move to Steps #2, (for Handcent and Messaging), and #3, (for Handcent. You can Disable Messaging instead). This will erase your previous texts.

funny, I clicked on the website because im having the same issue. I get a message that a text was sent to me but it is neither in my handscent or messages app. I only see it on my notifications bar.

Disappearing texts was a problem with Handcent but was supposedly fixed in the update pushed out yesterday. Are you using the very latest version of Handcent?

I've been using Handcent for years & that one actually annoyed me quite a bit. They released an update one day that caused that problem, then had to release a fix about 24 hrs later. I know there are a lot of different phones out there, but quite a few people immediately started posting feedback that messages were vanishing... it made me wonder just how much testing developers do before pushing out updates??

Lets just take the Galaxy S4 as an example...

There are 23 different models of it worldwide on over 1,000 different firmware's, both carrier branded and unbranded.

Now multiply that by all the models of phones that Samsung make and then by all the models for other phone manufacturers... that would be a lot of individual testing. You'd be lucky to get an app update during the life of your phone.

Bear in mind that the problem mentioned with Handcent did not affect all S4 phones. I've used Handcent for over 4 years now and did not experience that issue which may have been confined to a handful of those 1,000 firmwares.

Huh. Well... OK then! :p
