Cant view sd card after reformatting?

abccg

Lurker
So my friend reformatted his sd card to fat32 (this was so he can pub PB31IMG.zip in his sd card and flash it using hboot he is rooted but clockwork recovery doesn't work)

Anyways when the phone is plugged in to the PC, two disk drives show up "DISK G" and "DISK F", both are completely blank.

What does this mean?

It wasn't like that before he reformatted them both to fat32 file system.

Reformatting wipes the card so nothing will show up until he adds it to the card. It would be scary however if the internal storage also shows up as empty. Hopefully he didn't accidentally format it. The Incredible should show both the SD and internal as drives. Sounds like that's what he's running by the filename you mentioned.

So if he drops in the PB31IMG.zip file into the sd card will it work when trying to hboot it?

And I think he formatted the internal as well lol is there a way to go back?

And yes its a Droid Incredible

If he places the zip onto the card it should flash in hboot. However he may have bigger problems if he formatted the internal storage as that has a history of ending badly.

hmm ok thanks for your replies im going to tell him to try hbooting that zip and try to install a custom rom using clockwork recovery, i'll get back to you

Should work as long as its a stock ruu file and as long as its the same OS version he's currently on or newer. Also, if he used HTC dev to unlock, he would need to relock his bootloader before flashing the zip. If all those criteria are met and it still doesn't work, the failure may be the result of a borked internal storage due to formatting it accidentally. In that event he could attempt this:

SOLVED: messed up partitions on internal storage - HTC Incredible Stable Mod - CyanogenMod Forum

I've seen that method save a few phones but its been some time ago.
