Root Can't Wipe My Rom

First post, so be merciful....

Been trying to root my EVO for quite some time. Unrevoked didn't work for me but that visionary + app did. But when I tried to add the fresh Rom, I kept getting this screen with a triangle and exclamation point which I can only assume is bad news. So I tried to wipe my current rom by going to the boot screen and selecting recovery (i reckon thats how you wipe) but once again I got that screen. I need help solving the problem of wiping my rom so I can install the fresh rom....also if you know what does that screen mean?

Thanks in advanced

The exclamation mark is because you do not have a custom recovery installed. Im not framilier with what the visionary + app is. Is it a rooting program? Do you have s off?

Alright well im guessing visionary only gives you a soft root. So in order to flash a rom and have a custom recovery you must have full root meaning nand unlocked. Do some reading over on the rooting for dummies sticky at the top of the forum. It will gibe you all the basics on how to root.

well it appears that my phone's update is passed the point where it can be rooted....is there a way to un-update my phone?
