Root cant write boot img to sd card(help unbrick my nook)

I got my nook color 3 days ago, and went straight to loading honeycomb onto it, which went well, nothing messed up. due to honeycomb being too unusable for the time being, i tried going back to just rooted, so i got the proper clockwork recovery and stock rom onto my computer and started to retrace my steps.

at first i was getting error messages saying there wasnt enough space on my sd card to copy the stock rom, and after a few retries, i decided to format the card. now when i use WinImage or Roadkil, i can recognize the drive and select the clockwork mod to be written onto it, winimage will simply just not show a status bar loading the image onto, but exit out of the restore virtual image screen like it finished. when i use roadkil, it says that the image has been successfully written to the card. in either program, nothing gets written to the card.

i figured i had nothing to lose so i put the card in my phone and formatted it there and tried again, no luck. i cant format it in my NC because its bricked (when i turn it on, it gets to the A N D R O I D loading screen and sits there.)

does anyone know if i can still write images to an sd card after formatting it? ive got a sandisk 8gb card on the way, but id like to see if i can use this sd card first

When you flashed HC or at any other point, did you flash CWM to the internal memory? If yes, then hold N + Power when turning on to bot up to that recovery, from there you can wipe, flash, etc.

Not sure of its just me or what, but the cards I format with the PC dont seem to work for much of anything, even the PC stops recognizing them. I had to use an old SD card from my phone to transfer my files now.

Check this out if you havent already, maybe there is something you are missing:

thats the site that i used to put it on, and what i was using to take it off.
also, when i download clockwork mod, the file i get is 0kb in size, off of Index of /nookdev/clockwork/0.7

thats the site unlockr sends me to. and i think i flashed clockwork recovery onto my internal memory, but i cant get to the boot screen, when i hold power+N, it just shuts down. if its already off, it boots up normally until it hits the a n d r o i d loading screen

i think the biggest problem is its not letting me a download a recovery mod with anything in it.

Power + N is what shuts it down, when its off, do the same thing but only hold it until the first text appears, then hold it for maybe a second longer, then let go, that should boot it up into CW. If you hold it too long, it will turn off again, too short and it wont register.

You should definitely try to redownload the Recovery from somewhere else if that doesnt work, or try a different program, or reformat the SD card. Not sure what else I can give as advice at this point.

power+N doesnt change any boot, so im guessing clockwork didnt take. ive tried two programs, i guess i just need to find a better file, thanks a lot.
Edit, i managed to get clockwork onto sd card, that didnt take, so i put the autonooter onto it and plugged it into my pc(watched a video on yoube). now ive managed to change the boot screens from the android one to the touch the future of reading. basically i havent taken any steps forward, but i have changed shoes.
