Captivate on eBay

Hey Guys,

I've been tracking the number of Captivates available on eBay. Seems like the number is going up steadily after the OTA update. Are people losing trust in AT&T and Samsung in general?

the ota fixed the majority of the problems i had, i have no idea why people are selling them but i wouldnt say people have lost trust in either att or samsung. the ota fixed alot of little things, like not being able to send mms messages over edge, shortening the media scanning time, several little things i cant think of right now. if anything the ota bricked some phones and instead of talking to samsung they are trying to sell them on ebay, that would be my guess

The success rate of JH7 for the GPS issues was less than 50%... closer to only 1/3rd. So I think a lot of people put their last remaining faith in Samsung on this update, gave them one last chance, and then when Samsung didn't pull through decided to jump ship.

For used captivate, around $350 to $400, depending on the condition and your luck. For new captivate is in the lower $400 range.

However, a lot of people list it as New even though they say in the description that they used it for a couple weeks. So watch out for that.

Since the OTA update, I think the supply on eBay has gone up 10-20%. The supply used to linger from 80-90, but now closer to 100-110.

If it's any consolation I bought my cappy via ebay the last week of Sept and by then I was searching daily all within that week and the number for avail cappies fluctuated btwn 90-111, believe it or not. The 111 being the highest for a day if I remember correctly and it then tapered down to about the low high 90s, but I can def believe tht some people have had it with Samsung and/or AT&T and are looking for alternatives...I'm still happy though and will patiently wait for the official froyo release hoping that it will work more kinks out............

The reason the number of Captivates for sale, has risen, is a lot simpler than that. Its simply because there's a lot more of them out there now. The phone has only been out a few months. It would make sense, the longer its out, the higher the availability... the more product on ebay.

Yeah I'm pretty sure this has the greatest effect on the number for sale.

Okay so maybe I'm stupid but there's only 52 used Samsung Captivate's on eBay right now. How exactly is that a trend of disapproval from the original purchasers?

interesting note: Reah tar dead combined as a word is apparently censored. The more you know!
