Help Captivate Root, Froyo root, official

I rooted my phone with the z4 from Ryan Za. I did his OCLF lag fix, deleted bloatware, etc. Updated it to 2.2 (Odin, I think) and it's getting slower... and slower...

Two questions.

1. Is the Official 2.2 worth it?
2. What can I do to re-speed up my phone?

The "lagfix" method used in the OCLF app is old, deprecated and dangerous. Hopefully you removed it before installing 2.2 otherwise I'm surprised your phone is even working now.

The official 2.2 still uses the RFS filesystem so lag remains an issue (although lessened due to speed improvements in 2.2 elsewhere).

To get 2.2 and get rid of RFS you will need to go the route of custom hacked ROMs... just be sure you're up for that before you jump in. Do your reading, and understand the risks and responsibilities. It's a lot bigger deal than playing it safe and using stock.

Ehehehehh..... Actually, I installed it right after I upgraded to 2.2.... the thing barely is working....

i always see you on these threads doing two things.
#1.....telling people over and over to read the FAQ's and do search etc
#2...putting down the OCLF and roms and all related.
so do you have a stock captivate and do you do nothing but leave it exactly as it updates?
because i have to tell you...i am nervous as hell to root mine and do all this stuff to it as i really am barely above basic knowledge...but there is a reason there are so many repeatitive threads....on same topics..because so many have laggy underperforming captivates and want help.

I myself have been reading up and trying to get courage to root and do this OCLF...because i cannot stand hitting a button and seeing my phone just sit there...vibrating once in awhile...locked up..as i wait and wait for it to do something...anything...but it lags like so many do.

I have normal rogers update to 2.2 and almost no added apps and no live wallpaper and screen set to time out quick and at low.....and yet battery life is abysmal...phone locks up for seconds at a time...and moving screens is slow and not sharp like it was new...and nowhere close to an iphone smoothness...and swype since 2.2 is horrendous...mispelling everything and used to be a joy to use.

so advice? (but please if advice...not just a reminder to search..or use faq as i have done that.....:o:confused:)
