The battery isn't lithium ion according to people who have it, unless samsung is using a different battery for the captivate vs the galaxy S.

And can you explain what the GPS class means? Google isn't helping. It's coming up with gprs.

I'll remove Li-Ion until we can tell for sure, Samsungs own site doesnt even tell the battery type just that its 1500 mah...as for GPS class I didnt list GPS class only GPRS Class 12. and that is for Edge network connectivity. which some folks may care about :)

I'm so excited about this phone's announcement. I can't wait, but i'm gonna have to root it when a root process is available...

Li-Po is Lithium Polymer. I don't know many details about it other than it seems to alter the shape of the battery so instead of round cells you get square/rectangle cells eliminating some of the wasted space caused by lithium ion. It's what Apple uses in all it's products these days.

Good ol' Wikipedia:

This type has technologically evolved from lithium-ion batteries. The primary difference is that the lithium-salt electrolyte is not held in an organic solvent but in a solid polymer composite such as polyethylene oxide or polyacrylonitrile. The advantages of Li-ion polymer over the lithium-ion design include potentially lower cost of manufacture, adaptability to a wide variety of packaging shapes, and ruggedness.

I'm quite certain most sources have said that you can only have 32gb total. So adding 16 to the 16 already there.

That's been my impression on it as well. I have to admit, that's an odd thing. I wonder if it's a limitation of the OS or if they are linking the internal storage via MicroSDHC and that interface is limited to 32GB total. I'd bet it's that their linking internal storage through a MicroSD controller.

And as an update to the specs I think you can add PowerVR SGX535 to the 'Processor' line. Or just add a 'Graphics Processor' line. Considering Apple and Samsung split the cost of developing the Hummingbird it's safe to say they carry the same GPU.

Guess I should have read further on the Wikipedia entry. I had just assumed since the Hummingbird and A4 were developed together they used the same GPU. That's what I get for assuming!

According to a post today on Phandroid, all ths SGS variants do have FM radio.

Assuming they are right, this is the first confirmation I have seen of that.

On the front of info out of that big party, this is sthe only byte of information that is new, as far as I can see. I think many had expected to hear dates. While I was not at all surprised that we did not, i was disappointed. I'm anxious. i may burn up all my adrenalin waiting.

Nope. The only one of the 4 that has the front camera is the Sprint Epic. Handy-dandy table follows:

Anyone know if the Captivate could be turned into a hotspot via a 3rd party app? Thanks.

Depends on if the ol' take-the-sim-out-and-install-pdanet-via-wifi trick will work with it. I'm definitely planning to try...

I cant think that the Internal storage on Fascinate and Epic is right. The galaxy s was built to have 8 or 16 internal storage. Perhaps the rows need to be reversed... Guess we'll know more soon

Hard to say, could be a "keep the features balanced" thing. Give features to some while not to others. However, with the current storage limitations and with 32GB microSD cards available I don't see a problem with that.

Any voice to text features? Swype does not do this yet. I believe the other option to swype is Samsung keyboard.
