I was trying to go through the steps to flash to CM7 a little while ago, and of course forgot to put the ROM update file in internal storage before I flashed the kernel to Speedmod kernel with Clockworkmod Recovery (as per their instructions on the CM wiki). My thought, once I realized, was that I would just do it once the kernel was flashed.
Now, here's the problem: the phone will no longer boot up all the way. After the AT&T World Phone screen I get the kernel screen and it just stops there. I left it for over ten minutes thinking that maybe it just took a while. No luck. Removed and replaced the battery, tried multiple times to boot up and still no luck. I suspect that my problem at least partially stems from the fact that I had already updated to the stock GB with AT&T and the instructions mentioned assuming you were on 2.2.
I CAN get into download mode, and I CAN get into Clockworkmod Recovery (though I don't see anything there that might help). The problem is, even though my computer recognizes that the phone is plugged in, Odin and Heimdall do not. I have a copy of the stock KK4 kernel, but it is (of course) not in internal storage on the phone.
Being as I am obviously a noob at this, is there anything that I can do to flash back to the stock kernel or even get the CM file to internal storage? Or anything else, for that matter, that will solve this? Or do I have the inestimable pleasure of informing my wife that I just killed my phone and have cost us several hundred dollars (since I don't get a phone upgrade till August)?
Thank you for anyone that can help.
P.S. The phone is/was rooted, prior to the kernel flash.
EDIT: Also, no I wasn't bright enough to do a nandroid first. That would have been entirely TOO logical, and intelligent.
