Help Captivate won't wake up!!

Newbie
Good Morning-

Since I did the GB update through mini-Kies, seems randomly my cappy would become completeely unresponsive. I'd press the right button and get the un-lock screen, but nothing after that. I'd push again to get the shutdown, etc screen, but nothing from touchpad.

Its been getting worse, and most f day yesterday had issues. Once in a while it would wake up and I'd have touchpad.

Over weekend I did a reset on it using *#*#1314XXXXX#*#*. Yesterday I called ATT support and got nowhere. they told me to do the master reset through the seting menu- so I did.

I have no warranty left(Oct 1st), and am not eligible for upgrade till June 2nd.

I want to undo this GB update and try going back to Froyo as a test., and if working- try upgrading to GB again.

At this point- I will have no recourse other than to buy a used phone!!!

Thx
Chris

Thank You-

After I posted- I called ATT again- I told them I could do nothing except hit the recovery menu. They had me wipe data saying this would take me back to the stock Froyo this one came with.

It did not touch the OS and still have GB. Once I set the phone back up for accounts(I obviously had touchpad use to do this!!!). Phone worked normal.

The touchpad has been working now for over an hour with no lags- and there is one difference in what I loaded for Apps. Before I upgraded to GB- I had some Wallpaper program that is no longer up in Mkt. Once I went to GB- I had to find another, and one thing i noticed is that the photos did not fill up screen- they all appeared formatted wide and short- and I can't remember the proggie for it.

After my wipes(except this one)- I added it again. This time I have not- and seems to be working. Not sure if having differnet format backgrounds might've had anything to do with it?? This time i tried Flikie HD wallpapers.

Will monitor and advise. If I end up losing touhpad again- then I'll try this out.

Thanks for the post this AM... but believe it or not this things been fine all day. I am not sure it had anythingto do with my freezing or not, but at least its working.

Thanks again
Chris

Well gang- my phones done it again. Locked up Thursday with no touchpad access at all. I again re-set the phone, but the difference this time was that upon entering account setup upon re-boot- I had no touchpad access at all. The last time I had touchpad access to set up account and phone- but nothing once phone was setup and rebooted.

Found a video on that video site showing how to disassemble, and took note of the flex cable for Digitizer and how it attached to board. Cracked her open, and removed flex cable and reinstalled. Put battery to it and found I now had touchpad access. Did re-assemble and it all worked... for a DAY.

Well I tried phone last nite and no touch pad. Disassemble and played with lex again- and it seems ok for now.

I no longer have any faith in this phone- it looks brand new w no damage, and is my third Captivate on this contract. Called ATT Cust Service and pleaded with them for an early upgrade(3 months shy)- they politely declined any assistance(Premier). Told them I'd b forced to buy a used phone on CL, and then when my contract was up I'd re-assess my position with ATT.

I've seen a few Infuses for leass than $200, but SGS II's are sky high on CL. May have to find a cheep HTC Inspire to get me through. Hell- Cappy's are anywhere from $125 to $300 still.

I'll figure something out-

Chris
