Help Captivate + Zagg(tm) Invisible Shield (tm) + ...

I have a Zagg shield on my Captivate. In general, I know these to work and work well on a variety of phones. In addition, Zagg stands behind their shields very well.

That said, I'm having troubles pressing the "hard buttons" at the bottom of the screen: Menu -- Home -- Return -- Search. Does anyone else have this sort of trouble with the Zagg and Captivate?

My symptoms include:
1. press anywhere launches search
2. button press requires extra effort for button to register; when it does
see #1.
3. button press causes activation of whatever is above the button field
at the bottom of the display area

I've posted a question with Zagg support. When I get that answer, I'll follow-up here. Until then ...

Hoping for advice,

I had a zagg on my phone and I was having the exact problems with the buttons you are stating. I would push back and I would get search. Ditto for the home button. And I had to push rather hard. I decided I was tired of the look of the zagg, so I took the thing off last night. And what do you know....the buttons work *perfectly*. I barely have to tap them and there are no instances of getting search a hundred times. I am so happy I took it off.

I have Zagg shield too, and have noticed a difference, how do you get it off?? I have emailed the company and no response. I hope it don't leave marks on my new captivate!!

When I removed my zagg shield, it just peeled right off. Very easily and no sticky residue behind. Much easier than I expected. And what a difference when it was off!

Just took off my Zagg Shield, couldn't be any happier to have it off, although I do feel bad about the money wasted. Oh well.

I just put the Zagg on my phone, because the other one i had i wasnt happy with what it did to the images on the screen. I was have severe issues also with the back button. I have had no problems with the Zagg. I have found that if you are not right on top of the back button it will bring up the search. Just use light taps to get it to work

I use "denatured" alcohol to clean things like this.
See Denatured alcohol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(That is not "rubbing" or other "medical" alcohol. Those tend to have additives like lanolin for soothing of the skin.)

I dab a bit onto a cotton swab or ball and wipe. Cuts all sorts of guk without
damage or scratches.

If any screen protector film or phone glove (case, cover) limits the edge of the screen to move slightly around the hard buttons -- Menu + Home + Back + Search -- the buttons either fail to work or work poorly.
