Accessories Car charger currents/voltages

Hi,

my current car charger is too weak to charge the phone while using GPS and music player. I wanted to buy a new one but realized that there is a huge variety especially regarding currents! How do I make sure that the current is not that high that it fries my phone/battery?!

If you had a 10 amp adapter, your phone would still only draw as much as it needs and can safely use.

The current rating on a power supply is a maximum CAPABILITY.

I'm using a 2 amp adapter - as long as it's 5 volts the phone will be safe and happy.

Also, keep in mind that when the temp of the phone goes above 107 degrees, it won't charge as fast. (I know from personal experience.) I try and use the AC vent on long drives that blows on the phone to keep it cool so it can stay charged. (I use a 750 wtts power invertor using the wall charger.)
