Car Charger Question

My mom has a car charger for her old Motorola Razr and it uses the same mini-USB plug that our phone uses. I was wondering if this would work in charging my Eris or will it just destroy the battery?

I think it's 5V at 1A. Hopefully that's right. I'll have to check the charger when my girlfriend gives it to me.

If the charger has a plug with the USB logo on it (which the Motorola chargers I use to charge my Eris do) and the device you're plugging it into has a physically-compatible socket with the same logo (which the Eris does), they're electrically compatible.

Any 5v/1a or thereabouts charger will work fine.

Since most things (like my wireless Bluetooth, most phones, many digital cameras) run on the 3.7v Lithium Ion system, they all charge to roughly the same voltage, and can use that same voltage/current formula to charge the phone.

I use a set of Mini-USB chargers from a company called GTMax (some x-brand from China) for my Car and for an extra wall charger at work. They work perfectly.

If it says something MORE than 5v, or isn't labeled, or you don't know where it came from, even if it IS mini-USB, I personally advise NOT plugging your $500 Droid Eris into it.
