Car dock - Automatically enable GPS?

I bought the car dock with my Atrix 2 (and really like it). Was curious to know if there is way (via Android or via an app) that automatically enable the GPS connection when I plug the phone into the dock (and turns it off when I take the phone out of the dock).

And does anyone know what the cube shaped piece is that sticks out of the bottom of the dock?

If anyone is interested, I found an app that does what I want it to do. It's called Car Dock Home v3. It's not the best looking, but it works very well. It is very customizable, and allows you to turn on GPS when docked, and turn off when undocked. It will also max the volume when docked to better play music through your car stereo. You can put short cuts to any app you want, and it allows widgets as well.
