Accessories Car dock options: speaker mode for audio

I have the car dock, and the stock car dock app sucks. I want to use a replacement, but there seems to be no other way to enable speaker mode to output the audio through the usb. is there another way?

Custom Car Home app.
Use Locale to sense the car dock and load the App. You can customize the app to place what you want on the screen. Icons will be oversized for easy selection.
