Car mount suggestions?

Any suggestions on a nice universal mount for the lte gnex? Prefer a friction (bean bag) mount, but will use a windshield type of it actually works. Looking under $30-$35. Thanx.

HOW HAVE I NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE?! Lol. Does it work with any cd player? I have an aftermarket JVC.

Any? I couldn't answer that. I do know several people are using this and only one person has said it was a tight fit, but still worked.

I love mine it's very stable.

Do you have a cd player slot in your car?

I use this, it's fantastic and cheap

I'll plus one jbdan on the suggestion. It was sold out for a while, but I just bought mine on Amazon last week

Very portable. My fruit phone wife was very impressed when I brought it on our trip. I popped it into the CD player of the rental car, slid in my Gnex, said "Navigate to Sheraton hotel" and wah-la we were navigating to our hotel.

Thier stuff is kind of spendy, but is hands down the nicest device mounting hardware I've ever used. Have put their stuff in all my vehicles for a number of years. Still have the device mount for a Nexus that I don't use anymore, have one for my rezound and one for my wife's Inc2.

Highly recommended if you want the most secure and cleanest fit.

Just bought my mountek this morning off of Amazon. They had 6 left as of 9:30am eastern. It also started that they release a limited amount every morning. Hope this helps

I like that. I think I'll pick it up as a temporary mount until they release a GNex specific one.

Plus I can use it in each car with any of our phones. Nice find.

I'm going to buy one now. I can assume the ports at the bottom aren't blocked? Or do you turn it upside down (I hope not).

It does not block the charge port at all even with the small bottom piece (which is easily detachable btw) that supports the phone. It does however slightly block the headphone jack if the 3.5mm cable you use has a thick jacket. Mine that hooks to my aux port to my car stereo (I stream pandora and Google music) had a thick jacket so I just took a razor blade knife and shaved off enough rubber/plastic so it would slide in. Enjoy it I have!

Good to know. I may have to shave it a bit.

I really wish they'd release a proper dock with the pin connection. I don't want my GNex to be like my OG Droid-- the Micro USB port is looser than a salty whore when the ships come in.

This Arkon sticky suction mount is better than a bean bag. You can put it anywhere: dash, windshield, console; even your desk. The holder is easy to use and not hideously big; it's actually rather small.

Best of all, it's only EIGHTEEN DOLLARS. ;)

Mobile Grip Removeable Sticky Dash & Console Mount

Thanks for posting, this mount, this is Exactly what I have been looking for,
Cheaper than slipgrip. works with or without a case. easy and quick 1 handed mount-dismount and an arm longer than my old droid x dock, so I can easily turn ther thumbwheel and prop up the camera to take video out the windshield.

This looks like the best of the bunch to me (the CD solution would block my clock/temp/radio display and vents), but can anyone confirm for me that the method for connecting to the dash is NOT permanent and does NOT leave a residue behind if/when removed? That seems almost too good to be true.

I also plan to get the following two items in hopes of being able to charge the phone in landscape without loosening the micro-USB port:
StarTech 3-Feet Micro USB Cable - A to Left Angle Micro B
RND Power Solutions Dual USB car charger for Samsung Smart Phones

Based on reviews, it sounds like the dual USB charger is rated for AC charging levels (vs a weaker USB charging level) like the Motorola Vehicle Power Adapter micro-USB Rapid Rate Charger which is hands-down the BEST car charger I have ever used. Unfortunately it does not offer a left angle connector.

I have the RND and love it. Bought two, one for me and one for my wife. I've charged both of our phones without issue.

But, and I think this is true with any car charger, if you're using GPS, and radio, and it's hot out, then you'll still drain your battery. Just slower.

It is NOT permanent. The suction cup is made out of similar material as the Clingo holders, so you get suction + sticky hold. In my usage, there was no residue left.

Got my car mount, and it works well. It blocks my display for the radio, but I"ll be using my phone in replace of the radio, so no biggie.

What do you all use to switch to car mode? Just hit a button? What car mode you all use?

Mobile Grip Removeable Sticky Dash & Console Mount

Does anyone know where to get this for free shipping? It's about $30 after check out but list price is only 17.95.

Would like to spend no more than $20..

Has anyone tried the iOttie? That looks like a great one if you don't need an arm..

Otherwise the Arkon looks great for a dash mount.

Arkon has this:

Amazon.com: Arkon Mobile Grip Windshield and Dash Mount - Bulk Packaging - Black: Cell Phones & Accessories

but it's doesn't look like it has the same flexibility as the one above.

Maybe I should just go for the $12 Arkon on Amazon...
