Root Carbon ROM

Guys, I tried flashing this rom... I wanna go back to BNV2. Problem is, its not letting me flash it... error... all i flashed was the rom. no switchers or restore.. anyone? Please help.

Thank in advance

Well... Since I've used CARBON as a daily driver... .
I've only ran into one issue.... The screen became unresponsive a few times today....
Once to the point is having to reboot with the power button...
Not really an issue....
If it becomes an issue I am sure I can fix it.....
I don't have any mods ... Like entropy or CPU wise....
May be the heat... Not sure....
CARBON's been great... I just wish it had a lot of the CM11 version features...
Like wallpapers and stuff for carbonwise personalization .....
Makes me wonder ...how "minimal" will Android M be....
All themes went flat and monoterrific while phones got faster and "HD" .. With better and faster graphics....
Flat.....
But, I can't theme or dev... So.. That's that..

Did you ever find a fix to the screen becoming unresponsive? Mine does this as well but locking and unlocking fixes it. Kinda annoying while in games.

Well.... Not exactly.... I am on a recovery of AICP right now (the first version.. No kernel mods) and it's doing it also....

Last time I was on carbon... I remembered why I'm not on carbon....

I flashed the latest AICP... Did all the steps... Even deleted my "android" folder on my SD.. And everything was cool.... Till I needed to use Google maps... And GPS was nackered for no reason....
Got mad and flashed my carbon recovery... And got reminded why I don't use it... I somehow lost root privileges on half of my apps.. And for some dumb reason backed it up b4 i went to AICP...
I flash ROMS back n forth like I change my clothes... I can't help it.. I get bored... Or I mess up the install somehow... I have a bad memory with ADHD... That's just 2 outta five things I got going... Lol..

Only thing I can recommended... Starting over.....
If you got a pc.. Back up your SD..
Take everything off except what your going to flash....
Then go through the steps... Start fresh all over...
When things are cool... Drag your junk back on your sd...
leave out the android folder thou...
For some odd reason it causes issues in new installs if you got that type of junk from your last set up..
WIPE ALL BUT SD.. REBOOT RECOVERY...
FLASH ROM/GAPPS....REBOOT RECOVERY....
now here.. You can do the kernel flash...
But I'd boot system to see if things are copacetic first... No use going gung ho if it's the same sitrep....... If it's the same...
Give CANDY5 a whirl..
If it's 5x5 ......do your thing
FLASH SWITCHER (not completely necessary)
Delete dalvik stuff... Reboot system...
Reboot recovery....

Sorry if that's all drawn out... I don't mean to insinuate your dim...
But, it's thorough.... And tested by a professional crash dummy (myself)

But, now... Lately I've been experiencing the same thing as you.. But, with AICP....
So maybe I should try CANDY 5 again...
I really wanted BLISSPOP to be more stable...
But, like the post in between your and mine.... Not everyone has the pleasure of experiencing the great random oddities of custom ROMS

you need to flash GAPPS after you flash ROM

https://github.com/cgapps/vendor_google/raw/builds/arm/gapps-5.1-2015-06-02-15-19.zip

reboot recovery.....go to mounts and mount system.....

then if you want full R/W...you need to flash CARBON ROM SWITCHER

http://androidforums.com/threads/all-roms-flashable-zips-for-system-r-w-updated-6-28-15.919330/

then wipe dalvik........ reboot system...and you'll endup back in recovery...that's means the switcher worked...
reboot recovery.....and apps will update ..ROM will load ...i forget if you have to sign before or after you completly load the OS ....

if you are going to flash another ROM ...you need to flash the RESTORE zip...ONLY IF YOU FLASHED THE SWITCHER...
on and on and on and on and on and if you like ketchup put some on your fries

MASTERCHIE87 breaks it down probably ALOT better than i do...i just saw your post first .... :)
Is it necessary to flash gapps? I'm going straight Google-free, it's a pain in the neck, but I'm ok with it so far.

no playstore? You could always flash a minimalist pkg that'll give only playstore & required files for that specific app.

There are ways to sorta live without Google...
But, you have to figure out how to get apps and stuff that have little to nothing to do with Google....
One of the ways I keep apps without having to depends in Google play store to install them....
I go through all the hoo haw of installing gapps and sign in.,.
Install what I want for later... Or my kids tablet that's not in WiFi.. back up the apps to sd using super backup ...
Then just go about getting rid of Google how ever .. more than likely a ROM reflash... it's the clean way.....
Install super back up ..install apps from the back up folder....
Just make sure you cover the essentials....
There are other venues to gather apps . ... but, what I described may be safer than out n out piracy..
The easiest way will always bite back...
Torrents,4shared,blackmart...
those are forum cuss words... and the worst sources of anything....
Besides... That type of stuff eats itself... And are definably unsafe for you and your phone...
All that aside... ROM's are now starting to include antipiracy measures....
I wouldn't want to find out who gets the reports of backhanded doings...
Anyway....I use the GAPPS included.. they're minimal.... And don't include all the horse pucky of standard/stock GAPPS packages.

I hear you, I've got it all covered. There are a few downsides to not using Google, but I've covered pretty much all of the bases I'm concerned with. The store was the hardest base to cover, seeing as how some of my choice apps needed it, but i just substituted and moved on. I just don't care for the way that Google has injected itself into all of our lives, in more ways than we're aware of, we don't read all the fine print and they get all the permission they need to do whatever with all of our info. I don't always land on the right side of things and just don't need one more entity in knowledge of it, i guess...

I wanna make sure I got this right before I flash this ROM:

1. Boot into TWRP recovery and backup current ROM.
2. Wipe data and Dalvik cache, then flash Carbon ROM.
3. Flash Gapps (lollipop).
4. Flash SWITCHER zip.

The last step is confusing. Should I flash this zip AFTER the ROM and apps are fully installed?

and if u flash switcher u need to let it boot first and let the setup process work
Ok, so if I need r/w privileges after letting the ROM soak in, I'll flash the SWITCHER zip then. I also understand the same rules apply for the Zmax's stock rom when the zips are used for full r/w access: when I'm outside the safety zone, I leave myself open for a possible catastrophe until I complete my objectives and run for cover, or something to that extent.
