Cardio Trainer/Run/GPS app?

I use CardioTrainer pretty regularly and I like it, though I don't quite understand how it counts calories. It seems to greatly overestimate them.

As for the accuracy of the walking distance, no, it's not very accurate. But even a 10% error margin would suit me fine, actually. I'm usually more concerned about approximate distance, not the exact one.

I don't know how to estimate the error margin, nevertheless. The only experiment of that kind I had when I was walking hand-by-hand with my girlfriend. We have the same HTC Desire phones, we turned on CardioTrainer simultaneously and we turned it off at the same time too.

My CardioTrainer showed that we had walked 11.23 km, her device showed the figure of 11.07. The difference was 160 meters, which is not that big for 11 km. So I guess it's more or less accurate.

I know this thread has been dormant for a while but just though I'd add my twopenneth.
I have been using cardio trainer for a few months now, jogging between 5 and 10 k and find it consistantly 1- 2% over, which is totally acceptable. For example a 5km jog measured on google maps will normally come out as between 5.05 and 5.1 k with cardio trainer. I regularly do a measured 5k run in my local park and this will always come out just over 5k. However, I do find that if I don't have an accurate gps lock at the start of the run the measurement can be very inaccurate ... up to 25%, so I always ensure the GPS has locked on properly before starting.

thanks for your input.

i love that sportypal SAVES workout progress as you're running, so if something weird happens, and your phone restarts, it continues where you left off after your restart your phone.

does any other trainer do that?\

i know cardio trainer does not.
