Carmen's Take on the Xperia X10

Guys seriously get a grip you all sound like the geeks out of the big bang theory.

Hands up who posted a praising post and doesn't have a girlfriend?

The camera is crap and even if she looks good in real life it will make her look rough in any pictures taken on the X10.

If you don't like the keyboard, you could try shapewriter. It's not on the market now but if you want it, send me a pvt msg and I'll send you it.

I recommend a task manager to close the apps and juice defender to help with the battery.

Also, cvolume is a great app for volume. Let's you change alarm, ringtone, notification and system volume (if only it would fix in-call too).

As for email, I just use the browser to check email. I use Dolphin browser, it's like Android equivalent of Firefox (apparently).

Can't think of any other useful apps off the top of my head, maybe google shopper to scan barcodes and ebay & amazon if you use those sites could come in handy.

Almost forgot, best twitter app I've used is twicca and HandCent is great for customizing sms. syncmypix allows you to sync facebook profile pix to your contacts list.

POWERKITER: I don't have a gf, but I'd have posted this regardless of who asked. If the other guys posted her just cos Carmen is hot, then, yeah that is kinda sad (no offence Carmen)

Dont come and throw crap at me like... "You don't know how to take pictures with the X10"

Im not thick and if you read through a few of my other posts in peoples threads you might have found this from me...

"OK so I was spoilt with my old LG KC910 as it was voted the best phone for video and picture quality and it was a very high quality and that is why I got the LG and when I upgraded I went with the X10 as it had the highest res lens, but I kinda screwed up there but since the KC910 no other phone came close to it so I jumped into the X10 without testing the visual quality but DID research the phone. Never even heard of Android before, but within a month my gf and 4 other friends went Android.

The Android OS doesn't seem geared towards high quality pictures or video which is a shame as Sony Ericsson have the license for "Walkman" and "Cyber Shot" and they did make some amazing audio or visual phones and I will always praise the SE k750i as being an epic phone when it came out for photo and video. Then I got the LG which blew most camcorders and cameras under

The X10 is not a good phone at this point, it was when they announced it on paper in 2009. They keyboard is the worst I have ever used on a touch screen, not multi touch in 2010, Android 1.6, no custom roms, AT&T etc.

Looking at the phones the OP has been through in 6 months, they will have the next 4 big ones that comes out by Dec.

rofl.

3rd your a twat mate!

It's an open forum so as you expressed your opinion I expressed mine...

Take my comment about looking rough in pictures from the X10 as tongue in cheek, to carry on the rest from my quoted post above. "As the X10 carries neither of the logos "Cybershot" or "Walkman" we cant moan about the audio or visual quality of what comes from the phone.

Sorry if I was harsh I just get sick of being flamed on other forums when someone posts up "I think the X10 is bad at ???" and the only reply's are "Your thick you dont know how to use the phone!"

I only say that as I made one comment about the X10 and 2.1 on XDA and got 3 pages of flaming yet when one person was shown the facts another 5 jumped on one sentence from another post.

Dont judge a book by its forum post ;)

8mp is pretty good for a smart phone, not sure how its "crap". Remember this is a cell phone not a Nikon D5000. CNET.COM apparently rates this phone pretty well 4 out of 5 stars so this phone is not "crap".

OK and the sexy birds thread has now been well and truely HIJACKED!

LMFAO :D

I will in the next day or 2 possibly Wednesday night get out and I will take both the X10 and LG KC910 out with me and take pictures at the same time from both on the same settings and do the same with the video and start my own thread so you can see the poor quality Im on about.

Like I said... It carries no marks for Cybershot or Walkman so non of can really moan about any audio or visual quality's about this phone and as I said it does take better quality pictures and video than the Desire can and to quote my mate who has a Desire when I played some music "F**k that has a great sound quality to it!"

For an 8.1 megapixel, you do kind of expect more. However, my dad is a keen photographer and has he pointed out to me, having highest pixels isn't always the best picture quality (I thought that it would). The x10 does take some decent pix, but I'd have expected much better than my previous x1 with 3.2 megapixel.

A point to note, this could also be due to the limited colours through OS 1.6. According to the SE blog regarding 2.1, the upgrade will bring HD video the same as the Vivaz (I assume the picture level will increase as well, but who knows).

Oh, and yeah, the hot chick's thread is well and truly hijacked! lmao :D

Lol oh jeez

i havent been on ALL DAY and i come here and see these replies

Haha first of all
1)Thank you for the compliments guys(girls?) or whoever else. It is truly flattering

2)Second of all....

Ummm
The Xperia is still great
as a camera.....I am in love with the camera...I have literally became narcissistic over the past few days and have been snapping pictures of myself left and right

and usually i am humble but it's funny i have been taking pictures with it left and right

As a phone, i believe i am starting to see some of the shortcomings a lot of people are saying

1)The keyboard-Since At & t has restricted users from using third party apps i can not upload the HTC keyboard to use and im stuck with the stock android and I am typing so slow....Pecking

2)For some reason...I connect to wi-fi because of At & t's crazy data plans(it doesn't bother me because data plans are a waste because i always use wi-fi anyway) but it just drops from wi-fi and i have to keep connecting back and it is annoying a bit

About the 1.6 & 2.1 debacle
No, it's not just a number...I have been on 2.1 with Droid, Incredible, Evo, Eris, Hero, and Droid X so yeah it's not just a 0.5 difference

Live wallpapers-Gimmick, of course

Do i need it? No

Do i miss it? Yeah, they are pretty

The Gmail Multiple email accounts--yeah , i miss having multiple email accounts that 2.1 gives you instead of just the 1 gmail...

I am using k9 and i just don't like it

Timescape-yeah i got over that gimmick within 6 hours...it was neat and now it half way doesn't update facebook like it supposed to

All in all, I don't see where all the hate comes from on the phone but i do see where some frustrations are warranted.....

Is it a great phone? Yes it is...

is it the phone for me? No, No it's not....
I am deciding between sticking with Android and going to the Captivate
or jumping ship to an iphone 4(never owned one)

I read the issues with the captivate
and now the iphone 4 has issues with the camera(which may be a deal breaker)
so idk...

i will be giving it a few more days with the SE...Who knows i may end up keeping it

and yes CSRESBON, i probably will be having a few more phones...it's my birthday tomorrow so who know what i will buy ROFL

i recomend you to make afew visits to market and the phone will become powerful, in this month it will have you busy until 2.1 (wichwill dont change my life) comes out.... evry phone sits different need , exemple im not interested in getting updates in faceook i enter when i want to etc

You should be able to get the HTC IME installed using the PC to sideload. If you look at that error screen you posted, there are no devices being listed by ADB. I have had this problem with other Android phones and it's always been a case of USB issues. I would suggest trying to plug it in a different port or to use another computer if possible.

Personally, I debranded the X10 with a generic X10a ROM and I now have the non-market option available in settings. Of course, I understand some people are either not willing or not comfortable with rooting and debranding a device they just bought. I am an old-school geek so none of these things worry me. I can restore it to stock if I need to return it.

If I compare my first week with the X10 to my first week with the Captivate, I have not had to pull the battery once on the X10, my GPS has been incredible and the X10 has always been able to wake from sleep. Night and day really.

On a unrelated note, i am addicted to this forum...i am on it while watching a movie at my birthday party

Haha i need help

You could also try appbrain... If you can download it. There's also an app called Push, that allows apps to be sent phone to phone. Dunno if it can be done over 3g or just wi-fi but would be an idea if it works.

Rosered, is that a bit of jealousy? I'm sure you're cute too :p
