Carribean Cruise with Bionic tips

Going on a cruise in a couple of days and need any advice on the use of my phone. I know roaming charges on the islands are expensive but texting is not that bad. The ship is another thing with their Wifi charges. If I disable the data on my phone will I have any random charges if I leave it on to listen to music? Any other pointers to not incur additional charges are appreciated (other than just don't use the phone). Thanks

I went on a cruise with the bionic not long ago... un click data roaming!!!!! Or your phone will look for every little thing that it can for data (apps etc...)

I did that and hit airplane mode. Wi fi on the Ship is bucks deluxe, and it's about as fast and reliable as a 14.4 dial up modem. It sucks. Best bet it to leave data roam UN CHECKED and if you go into a port, use the wi fi there. Lots of places have free wi fi.

If you have to text, get out of airplane mode, and send your stuff. Just keep in mind, all the incoming text will flood through at once, and you'll get charged for them all.

Verizon has a "Cellular at Sea" you might want to check out. At their site. Might be a decent deal.

Have a great trip!!

Music listening will be cool as long as it's the stuff you already have. So no streaming or Pandora. :)
