Have an iPhone 5 that was bought through Sprint. Is there a way to tell if this is carrier unlocked?

Can this phone be used on VZW or US Cellular?

More than likely you will need to get sprint to unlock the device for you. But its probably locked until specifically asked to be unlocked.
