Help Carrier Icons?

I just got my Droid X2 today and I'm wondering how to get rid of or at least hide all the BS Verizon icons. I was also wondering which home launchers might be worth checking out..

I'll let the helpful gang here chime in on the icons - for launchers, ADW, Launcher Pro are a few of the more popular ones out there.
 
Launcher Pro is the way I go. But for hiding those pesky 'bloatware' icons you have to root the phone I believe. Root has been achieved using Gingerbreak, but I have yet to talk to someone on this forum that has rooted their phone.
