Root Carrier IQ

Is it legal to delete or disable this program? If so, how can we do it?

This amounts to an electronic Star of David.

FBI turns down request for info. on Carrier IQ - The Washington Post

I have already searched this phone and we do not have it on our phones. Guess metro didn't want to pay the extra money to track people

And to answer your question, yes it is legal its your phone you can do as you wish with it. This came about from a court case where apple was trying to take jailbreakers to court and lost

especially with no contract carriers where we pay for our phones in full. Perhaps with contract carriers, they can put something in the contract that says they have access to that data, and since they are supplementing the cost of the phone (which they get back anyway with outrageous monthly fees).

But even in those cases, yes they can't prevent you from rooting/jailbreaking your phone and doing as you please. Except to void your warranty.

BTW there is in the Marquet an app named CarrierIQ Detector, it's the number one app on the Top Grossing apps.
