Being paranoid about getting lint under the screen, I decided to just keep mine in a holster like all the blackberry folk. Soo, I buy a nice looking holster off eBay for a great price but after a few days I notice the black dye had rubbed off onto the phone. Fanfreakintastic. I've tried everything to get the shit off but to no avail. I wished the phone was black to start with, but after this debacle, I really wish it were, that way the stain wouldn't show so bad.

I learned a long time ago that carrying any cell phone in a dedicated front pocket has a lot of advantages. (Women may not be able to count on always having front pockets...)

- Your phone is always right there
- You quickly notice if your phone is not there
- Your pocket is usually a clean and shock-free place
- Your phone is always wiped clean
- No need for cases, skins, etc.

I also learned that smartphones all seem to have quite good scratch-resistant screens. I've gone years with an uncovered Treo in my pocket with no damage or grime. At the same time I've seen friends using cases and holsters and having all kinds of crud and wear build up in there.

My HTC Hero is with me 24/7, in my pocket while walking, in my hands while on the train, on the desk or table while working or sleeping. Not a hint of a scratch or blemish. I put a lanyard on it, but never a case or screen protector.

A. ZAGG INVISIBLESHIELD - First I took the careful time to put the Zagg InvisibleShield on the face. ZAGG has a lifetime warranty so whenever it gets beaten up/shredded/peels off, or whatever, I can get a FREE REPLACEMENT.

B. HTC Gel Skin - Second I keep my Hero nice, tight and cuddly in the HTC (branded) Gel Skin, that I got @ BestBuy (don't use the wrist strap, that's for girls). Get these on your phone ASAP. Although this can be said of many thing in life, but, "if you don't have some sort of protection you'll be sorry"...

C. Lastly, I keep in my Hero in my back pocket, with the trackball kissing on my butt. This way I'm happy to have my butt kissed all day long, and in return, my butt adds extra protection to the big open face of the phone... everyone's happy!

Purchased a hard case and a holster. I use the hard case only most times and carry it in a zipped part of my purse. On weekends, or when I'm dressed down, I carry it in a holster on my side. I also have a mirror screen protector. Works great. Image is sharp once awake, no dust, no nothin!

I just received mine in the mail and when I ordered it, it said the same thing. I live in NC so it took about 3 or 4 days to ship from cali. I must say I love it so far. Thanks for the suggestion. The best $7 I have spend so far. I think I am going to go with no screen protector. I really like the screen the way it is, and since I am paying sprint for insurance, if the screen gets too bad I will just loosed the phone and get a new one.
I love my Hero!!!!

 IT will cost you $100 to replace your phone. My buddy had his for a week unprotected and dropped it while getting out of the leather Holster. Put four nice full screen cracks in the screen. If did not have a screen poretector film on it I think it would fall apart.

I think I am going to go with Seidio case since Otterbox does not make one for the Hero yet.

I've had one of those hard cases with the rubberized feel on the outside from ebay on my Hero since I got it. It worked fine but it wasn't quite the color I wanted and I just wanted something different. So I ordered a smoke semi-transparent "crystal skin" case on ebay. It's supposed to be a cross between a silicon case and a hard case. It's not as grippy as a rubberized hard case or silicon case, but it's not excessively slippery either. It keeps its form but is bendable and returns to it's original shape. Very easy to put on but fits snugly and perfectly. I think it's ever so slightly thinner than the hard case I had, but you wouldn't be able to tell unless you measured.

All in all, I love the new case! I'll try and get some pictures of it and some comparisons with my hard case.

I've got mine in the BodyGlove case it came with when I purchased it. Unless it's sitting on a table charging, it's always in my front, right pocket. I don't use a screen protector yet but I'm debating whether or not I should

Got the Zagg at best buy when I got the phone, got the Gel case from the cell phone shop that did the contacts transfer for me ( after BB and Sprint told me We can't )

I keep the phone current in my jacket pocket. When I wear my Cargo's it goes into the pocket that the phone is in when I am done using it.

I am having a local guy make me a Leather case kinda like the one PCR did with a few mods. I don't wear a belt typically so I have never bothered with Holsters/clips.

Now to get the capacitive stylus so I can stop sausage fingering texts :)

Couple of questions about your case.
1. Does this provide shock protection?
2. Does it come in colors?
3. What brand is it?
4. Does it attract lint?

Ok so I said a couple. I love my hero and want to ensure it is well protected. Thanks and have a great day.

Indeed.

Docker Cargo Pants.

Right pocket has an inside (change or phone) pocket that my Hero fits in perfectly.

Screen faces toward the inside. With the new 3500 mAh batter and cover I can grab it easily and it is always protected.

Hey, no problem. I saw your post but wasn't sure who you were referring to. I'll try to answer your questions the best I can.

1. Like any case it provides some shock protection. I feel like it's better than the hard case I had for everyday use because it absorbs more bumps rather than just transferring them to the phone like a hard case would. I don't think it would save your phone from a big drop but small ones and just bumping it on things during regular use it does great.

2. I got mine on ebay and all I saw were the smoke colored ones. However, the have the same kind of cases here in other colors. They all seem to have this checkered pattern. Mine has the checkered pattern as well, but you can't really see the pattern when it's on the phone, at least with the smoke colored one.

3. I don't think there is a brand. It's just a generic one, but make sure it says it's made of "TPU".

4. Not at all. It's less grippy than my rubberized hard case, but still plenty grippy enough for me. I don't feel like it will slip out of my hand.

Front right pocket - Hero (hard case, screen protector), Carmex [most of my pants/jeans have a mini cellphone pocket within the right front pocket]

Front left pocket - cash, keys, coins

Wont do holsters as I tend to bump into things snapping them off lol

May replace hard case with a more rubberized one.
