Accessories Case Addiction? I need help!

I just ordered what will be my 4th case in the past month. Been trying everything to find the perfect case. In a way, it's not addiction, so much as making the wrong first choice, and then the right product finally being available. I just ordered the Incipio Silicrylic (black), which is what I wish had been available on day one. As stated previously, my wife has used them for almost 3 years on her iPhones, and I've been amazed at the quality of them, how they retain their form and appearance despite constant removals and even a baby gnawing on them. Best of all, they protect the phone! The 3 cases I've gone through so far and their issues:

1. Seidio Active (black) - peeled in about 3 weeks, and despite there being more plastic than "silicone" exposed, was a lint magnet. The front would constantly trap lint in or around the screen edges. My wife's Silicrylics never did this.

2. Seidio Active (black) - warranty replacement for the first one, the "silicone" part is too large. The loose fit plus the plastic clamp makes it so that the rubber parts don't properly protrude where they are supposed to. Really, Seidio, is this your quality?

3. Verizon High Gloss Black - A cheap case that is simply amazing. I love it. But it doesn't fit my usage habits. I'm an accessory hound. I have to remove the case to put my phone in the GPS mount, the desk cradle, or just to swap batteries, so at least once a day on average. The problem is that the tight fit causes it to, when being attached, temporarily flip up the edges of the screen protector. This causes a bubble ring and eventually makes the protector come off, so I'm going to have to replace a protector after 3 weeks that normally would have lasted me 6-9 months.

Anyway, like I said, not so much addiction as them simply having the product that I always wanted. Should have it in a few days, so I'll be sure to bump this thread with pictures and comparisons of all 3.5 cases.

And i thought i was the only one. I am a case whore! I tried the cheap, hard plastic cases on ebay, TPU cases, silicone cases, and finally found love in the Otterbox Commuter. I thought the TPU cases were nice, but the Otterbox is the best quality, best fitting, best looking case i have ever owned. I have also handled the Body Glove one, the Verizon textured one with a holster, and many others, but nothing compares.

Crap, now i have Sinead O'Connor stuck in my head!

I'm glad to see that I am not the only one that has this addiciton. I've only had the Incredible for two months and have already went through 6 cases. I don't want to add thickeness to the phone, however I do want to protect it as much as possible. Each week I search Amazon and Ebay for what I think will be the perfect case and then days later I end up deciding to buy something different.

Maybe we can all go on the show Intervention for our addiction.:D

I've got a question about the otterbox, because I'm in the same situation, trying to find the perfect case.

How high do the edges around the screen sitck out? I had one case I bought from Verizon, don't remmeber the name, and it had high sides on the front around the screen. This made it difficult to touch screen buttons correctly around the edges. When typing I would miss the P and get O a lot.

So, do the otterbox cases, in the front, sit flat and pretty flush against the screen (or pretty flush)?

You probably bought the BodyGlove. Nothing sticks up as high as that one.

I'm glad I'm not the only case addict! I keep buying cases and subjecting them to vivisection to make them fit my extended battery. :D

My Incipio Silicrylic came in today. It's the winner. Seidio Active isn't even close. I'll have more in-dept comparisons likely tomorrow evening, with photos.

Same with me, case addict!!, thing is, Incipio looks great, but what if phone fall?, I mean, it prevents from scratches and looks great being not bulky at all, but I think it is so thin that it will not absorve any shock, bump or drop.
Please tell me what do you think about it, so I can make my perfect buy :)

Yes. I've noticed from past cases that durability and maintaining a BRAND NEW look is more important to me. Having really grippy cases always led to quickly appearing wear marks which bothered me. This case is a great fit of blending my concerns of grip and long lasting appearance into a nice package. The initial "slickness" of the hardshell has lessened somewhat but the new look, not at all. Lay it facedown for total protection. Won't slide and screen doesn't touch the surface. It fits in my side pouch and my windshield mount perfectly. Got the windshield mount at Walmart in the auto section. Drilled a hole in the side of the mount for the charger cord and it works great. 20bucks. This case is well worth it. Would and do recommend this case to all.

From the pics on their website, it looks as though the Silicrylic is open on the back. Would this accomodate an extended battery possibly?

Thanks,

Gary

It's not open. If you look at the White/Pink one you can see that there's a silicone cover, the "back" part with the hole in it is actually the hard part that snaps around the silicone cover to hold it on.

You could (likely) take an exacto-knife and trace the outline of the battery and cut a hole in the silicone. That would at least be relatively easy to cut compared to a hard plastic. You'd have to break out the dremmel tool.

I personally use and love the Case-mate Tough Case:

Just got my Otterbox commuter in the mail today.

Can anyone else agree with that this is one giant lint magnet...?

I can't believe I just paid $22 for an expensive lint roller.

Any suggestions on a case with the same quality but does not attract so much filth?

I'll give another vote for the Otterbox Commuter. I shopped around, and it is the first one I have bought. I am very happy with it. It gives good protection in case of a drop. The flaps to cover the ports work well. The included screen protector is good. All for 20 bucks? I'm really happy. I want to be be able to slide it in and out of pockets easily, so I like the hard plastic outer shell... and have never had it slip out of hands.

I don't know what to say about the lint. I guess lint does stick to the exposed rubber. I just wipe it off and it doesn't bother me at all. I think maybe the lint stickiness has also been getting better and better as time has passed.

After having the case for a few weeks you are right beakster. The lint problem has gotten way better. Give props to Otterbox commuter.

BTW are you from Iowa?

Degasis.net. HE is a distributer for Epik cases, and hey are by far my favorite so far. And never become a lint roller lol. CHeap too!
