Case for desire S

Just like to say hi all! great forum :)

As above really can anyone recommend a case for the desire S? I currently use the htc pouch but getting tired of sliding the phone in/out all the time, plus when is is out of the pouch it is not protected from drops etc.
Many thanks.

I agree. I have one (a silver one) for my desire s and love it. I can hardly notice the difference with or without the cover. It's tight fit (and therefore difficult to remove).

I previously had a gel cover for my Hero and that made it quite bulky. The case mate barely there is very slick. Highly recommend it.

Just got one from carphone warehouse, great case! makes me laugh on the box it says ....like a thong for your smart phone lol!.

haha nice one lol - Hope you like it :) they are the best cases, i have one on my Original Desire :)

yep that's a lil weird tbh but funny lol! here are some more cases from Case-Mate HTC Desire S Cases from Case-Mate have u tried gelli by any chance? I used to have tough for my previous phone but now am keen on getting Gelli for my desire s :) would be great to hear your thoughts

Hello all - Android and forum newbie here....

After reading various good reviews, here included, about the Casemate Barely There, I went ahead and purchased one.

However I seem to be part of a minority seeing the flaw with this case - it doesn't protect the top and bottom front edges of the phone. If you drop it on it's back or side then you'll be fine - but drop it on the front, or the top or bottom, then you're buggered....

It might not be a flaw for people on contracts who can switch phones when they choose, but for us on PAYG who fork out

AS "DJF" posted that looks good, just ordered one looks good for a fiver.......;)

ok update...case is great...however the free screen protector that came with it wasnt good, i just cannot get the very small inperfections out from the side of the phone, ie the black edgings on either side of the phone..for some reason the screen protector just doesnt stick around this area, the actual screen itself is perfect, and protector fits very well...might need to get a few more screen protectors...

This would be a concern for me also. I am pretty sure I would drop them in those sides.

Gel case in my view is generally a very good case, they usually come in many colours and are cheap and easy to get. I do know that there are cases like aluminium cases, silicone and flip leather cases available on eBay.

for the invisible shield, they have been around for ages and I have always heard good things about them. They should be quite good

Did anyone actually drop the Desire S with the Barely cover and see it survive? It seems that Barely is mostly protecting against scratches and not regular drops?

I went with the Case Mate Tough Case in the end after being able to see it 'in person' at Best Buy - pricey at

Surprised nobody suggested the otterbox. It looks really good with silicone as an inside layer and a bit of hard case on the outer layer. Not sure if it is as good looking as those case mate but that depends on personal taste

Hmm, haven't heard of that one before - looked up the Otterbox Commuter case and it does look pretty good, and seems to offer a tiny bit more protection than the Casemate Tough Case (as in it extends fully across the bottom lip and has separate holes for camera and light instead of one big one). It also seems to have covers for the USB and headphone ports.

Otterbox for HTC Desire S Commuter Series

Though reading the review on the above site, it does seem to have slightly less grip and they've managed to cover up the microphone underneath the LED which is used for noise cancellation - so pros and cons.

Oh well, the Casemate will certainly do me for now, can't go spending another
