Case & Screen protector

Newbie
Finally got my hands on an Optimus today. First phone I've had that's worth putting a case on -> I am upgrading from the original razor. Can someone name a case that will fit this phone for sure? Should I get a rubber case or a snap on shell? (whatever that is)

Also screen protectors - what's a good one for the Optimus?

Thanks :)

Screen: I'm using ZAGG's Invisible Shield. There's an application process, not just a clear sticker that you apply.
Cover: I purchased the Otterbox Commuter for some extra protection. Still wish they did a Defender Series for this phone but anyway there's my answer.

Also, if you buy a snap holster heon ebay for the Samsung Moment. It will fit the optimus in the otter box case so you dont need a defender case so much.

Sorry but can you clarify what you are saying here. Its early morning and maybe my brains not processing the information

I think the snap case is more of a hard plastic. I have the snap case. I wanted that because I keep mine in my pocket and it is easier to remove when the phone rings. The rubberized cases are difficult to remove from a pocket but are obviously easier to hold on to. As for the screen protector I just got the cheap ones from ebay $3.00 for 5. They have been working fine.

I got a 5-pack of cheap screen protectors on Amazon and I'm actually surprised at how good they are. The first one I put on I managed to get on with absolutely no bubbles - because I watched a few vids on youtube on how to properly put one on - and it's been very good since. My only gripe is that they are very finger-printy/smudgy, but I only notice it when the screen is off, and I'll give it a quick wipe with my shirt (I think I have minor OCD...)

For the case, I have the Body Glove Snap On case (different from the well-regarded Body Glove case). My review of that is on Amazon's product page.

If you treat it carefully it will last a long time. If you keep in a pocket keys and coins will scratch it quickly. The reason I got more than one is if I mess up on the install then I have an extra.

What I am saying is that you can't get an Otterbox Defender case (with a belt clip) for an LG Optimus V. However, you can get the Commuter case. If you buy a plastic slip on holster for a Samsung Moment and put your LG Optimus V in a Otterbox commuter case then in will fit perfectly in the Samsung Moment Plastic holster like this one: SWIVEL HOLSTER CLIP FOR SAMSUNG M900 (Moment) - eBay (item 180633445277 end time Mar-30-11 19:36:16 PDT)

Essentially, what this does is add the possibility to belt carry the V in the otter case. Which is what Otterbox should have done to begin with.

This way you can carry the V in your pocket or on your hip with a clip. Face in or Face out. I personally have the Body Glove Case and the samsung Moment holster works with this too.

I picked up a screen protector from Radio Shack when I got the phone. It is called WriteRight. Comes 5 in a pack and was easy to install, but you will need a sharp pair of scissors to cut it. Got the Body Glove snap case and works well.

Anyone know of a hard-shell case with a built-in wrist lanyard or a case I can add one to? I'm used to having a lanyard on my phone and I'm afraid I'm going to drop it thinking it's attached to my wrist like the old phone was.

Should I get a rubber case or a snap on shell? (whatever that is)

A personal decision, but I like the hard case because I carry the phone in my pocket, and it
- slides in and out of the pocket more easily
- attracts no lint like the the silicon one.

I'm thrilled with this case and protector. You can find them on eBay in various configurations (case, added screen protector, added car charger, and added home charger) and a few colors for $5 to $10 (but sometimes $6 to $12) if you search for "hard case Optimus S". (I even found a case alone for $3, but am still waiting for its delivery--eBay seller zydistro ships quickly from California).

I don't recommend Zaggs Invisible Shield or equivalent, because of the slight added drag. The "regular" screen protector as you would get in the eBay package with case seems to have no drag in comparison to the bare screen. It has front and back removable thin plastic covers with tabs, so you can put this on with no bubbles, provided you are careful not to touch the sticky side, and you clean the screen very well beforehand. I.e., follow the great video instructions for application by Clarivue linked to in this post.

The screen protector even has a cutaway for the proximity sensor. The protector is a tiny bit smaller than the Optimus V's glass, but that's a good thing IMO, as it's slightly easier to apply, and what it doesn't cover is just some screen that contains no display (just black screen).

im using a leather case i had origionally for my palm pixi...it was a little snug at first but now that ive had it on for a little while, it fits very nicely.

i dont know much about cases but i do know that snap on shells are normally bad because dirt and stuff gets under them and can gunk up and scratch your phone.
