I'd like a case that can be used as a stand, preferably portrait as well as landscape. Since will usually be carried in my purse would prefer not too bulky. Leather or faux leather nice, like soft interior.

Under $30 if possible and, of course, protect the device well and allow all necessary access. I saw a post mentioning one made by Bear Motion. Also seeing on Amazon cases by Poetic, MoKo and rooCase that look nice. Ack! Too many choices!

Thanks for feedback.

Welcome to the forum and grats on the new Tablet.

As far as cases go the only one I seen that can do both portrait and landscape is this one

Amazon.com: MoKo(TM) 360 Degrees Rotating Stand Case for Samsung GALAXY Tab 2 7.0, Black (with Vertical and Horizontal Stand and Stylus Loop): Computers & Accessories

I took a look at that case when I was in the market and there where a few things that worried me.

One was the the giant ratchet on the back of the case that allowed it to be put in both portrait and landscape mode. When I saw it the first thing that came to mind was cell phone belt clip and how after a few months they always ware out. The other thing (this comes from looking at kindle fire cases) is the clips it uses to hold the device in. They make me nervous I prefer something a little more secure. I read a few reviews where the clip cases had broken on the person or became so lose the device was no longer held in securely.

As far as the case I went I was one of the people to get bear-motion

Amazon.com: Bear Motion (TM) 100% Genuine Leather Galaxy Tab 2 7 Case Cover with Stand for Samsung GALAXY Tab 2 7.0 tablet - Black: Electronics

When I original got the case it was meant as a hold over tell I could get something nicer. When I original got my device money was kinda on the tight side and I got the bear motion as a hold over case until I could afford something nicer. I was blown away when the case arrived and it was really high quality. The case is super thin and comes with all the cut outs except IR port. I am told in the new editions they have the IR port cut out now.

One other case like item you might take a look at for purse use is

Amazon.com: Timbuk2 Kindle Fire Plush Sleeve with Memory Foam for impact absorption, Grey/Lime: Kindle Store

I personally own one of theses I got originally for my Kindle Fire so I could take it in the car with out having to worry about it getting knocked around. The inside is extremely plush and has some kinda memory foam like padding. The device will not fit inside of it thought when its in a case sadly.

I recommend the Bear Motion case. The stand only works in landscape though. I posted some pics on Amazon. Yep they added the IR cut out.

The ability to use in portrait mode is down on my list, so not a deal breaker.

I agree with you HodRoderX, about the MoKo case. That big thing on the back also looked like it would add a good bit of bulk.

Right now I think I am between the Bear Motion case, this rooCase and the Poetic.

I'm just not liking the Bear Motion case. I don't like that the front cover doesn't fold back flat to hold it easily. And just something about the overall look and feel didn't grab me.

So I have ordered the MoKo case with the rotating thing on it. Now I will have a stand for both portrait and landscape, and it appears that the cover will fold behind more easily. In addition, I ordered a soft case. Padded and zips all the way around to protect my Tab when it's in my bag.

After just two short weeks I love this little thing, need to keep it safe! Will keep whichever stand case I like best and send back the other. And as an added plus, both of the cases ordered are purple!

I'm with you on the Bear Motion. Took another look at them againlast night and still wasnt impressed. There are quite a few MoKo's that I liked (color-wise). The fact they rotate is a much needed bonus and their prices dont break the bank.
