Cases!

My Seidio Surface came today. It's two pieces - a sturdy back cover that comes up about 2/3rds the way and a thin top piece that snaps on. Theres a slot on the left side below the volume slot that is used to pry the two pieces apart but its definitely a case you will not be wanting to take off frequently. No slot for the dock connector on the right. Fit and finiish is excellent. The seam is very tight and smooth. If youve had a Seidio case before, its the same rubberized plastic. Feels good and grippy. The bottom piece has a layer of felt for cushioning. Looks like it will handle a drop well. Its a keeper.

Has there been a definitive solution for a case/holster for the nexus w/ extended battery? I really need to get something soon, as I'm not digging carrying this around in my pocket.

I'm in the same boat. I purchased the Incipio case from the Verizon store on launch day. Although its a great case, and fits great with the extended battery, It's a deal breaker for me without a holster/belt clip. (I emailed them, and they said they will not be releasing a holster) I've never for as long as I can remember not used some type of holster. I completely dislike carrying it in my pocket.

I've always exclusively used Seidio cases, but I fear their Surface case not fitting with the extended battery.

Are you using it with the extended battery? Seidio would be my preference if it fits.

I just came across this. I can't find it on Amazon's main site (seems strange)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B006H4DD98/ref=aw_d_detail?pd=1

The Seidio ACTIVE cases have always been an exclusive line of Seidio cases sold through Amazon only. If this line is indeed upcoming, I believe it would work with the extended battery. This type of case is much like the Incipio SILICRYLIC case . Looks to include a holster. I'm going to email Seidio to find out. If they are indeed launching it, I think this will work out for those with the extended battery.

I've used the ACTIVE case on my EVO and prefer it over the SURFACE Case.

Does anyone have a case they recommend to get a better grip?

The otterbox is nice, the bulk being the biggest downfall, but it's still kind of slippery.

The rubbery ones usually work best, but they never fit tight and seem sloppy. Anyone know of a case with a good grip or maybe a snap on case with a rubber shell or something?

Can anyone recommend a case that is easy to take off?
I plan to exchange batteries frequently and hate manipulating the phone trying to get it off.

I want a slim design that is easy to get on and off. I do not plan to abuse my phone so even a silicon case would work - but they are not the easiest to get on and off.

I just received the Barely There case (thru Amazon, with Prime, yay!). I like it a lot better than the TPU case, personally.

veccster, I find the Barely There case easy to remove, one of the things I like about it.

My only concern is it might not fit with the extended batter, which I haven't gotten yet. So we'll see.

I've liked using a TPU style case along with Seidio Surface holster with the DInc. Right now I am using the Diztronic High Gloss Black TPU case and am waiting to receive the Seidio Surface Holster along with the extended battery. My hope is that it will all work together once everything arrives and I'll cut out the volume rocker if necessary.

I stand corrected! Seidio just released their ACTIVE line for the Nexus:

Anyone buying the seidio active case? .....and that kick stand looks like crap.

I'm stopping by VZW today to try out the otterbox.

I guess we just need confirmation about the extended battery

any chance you could take a pic and post?

i e-mailed diztronic today and requested that they start making cases for the nexus with the volume rocker already cut out, so we don't have to...everyone else should do the same.

They already are...

Amazon.com: David M. Peltz "gadget geek"'s review of Diztronic Matte Back Black Flexible TPU Ca...

Cases made out of TPU do not have volume button cutouts, and traditionally do not have power button cutouts either. The reason being is it requires too large of a hole. With that large of a hole in the side of the case the material loses it's elasticity and no longer hugs the phone tightly. Recently some Samsung phones (this model included) have much smaller volume rockers and could accommodate a volume cutout. We will be making future Samsung models with volume cutouts. However, the molded volume rocker on our Samsung Galaxy Nexus case works very well on my Nexus. It sounds like you received a defective case. Please contact me for a replacement.

awesome! in that case, i guess i'll just deal with it looking crappy for now. in the meantime, maybe i'll try to get them to send me a replacement (although the second one i ordered from amazon has the same issues the first one did, so i'm thinking that's probably just the company line til they release the ones with the volume cutout)...

anyone who's done the cutout themselves and gotten it to look decent have any tips? i used an x-acto knife, but i guess my hand isn't stead enough because it really looks like garbage...works great, i can actually feel the volume buttons click now, but it just looks awful. i'm thinking about giving it another shot on the other case i bought, but i figured i'd ask for tips first...

i got the simple black silicone case from verizon. I think it is PERFECT and i have the extended battery.

I like it because:

1) the power button (so used to it on the top) is cut, while volume rockers are NOT cut so that I can feel the difference between power side and volume side...so used to power on top..since getting this phone i have pushed volume buttons to turn her on more than once (before this case). Even with the extended batter, the volume rocker works PERFECTLY event though not cut out...not too sensitive as seems on distronik case

2) it is tacky/stickyish....so i can turn my phone on its side while charging at night, and rest it on picture frame or book....like a poor man's cradle! lol

the super thin ones (barely there? forget the name) are appealing though.....are they sticky or smooth

My issue with the verizon silicone case was that I felt it added more bulk to the phone than the diztronic. With a phone this big already, that makes a difference to me...

I have a Pop case for my kid's iPad and it's great. The grippy sides are a nice touch. I'll stick with my Barely There case for now but I do like the Pop. If you have a chance, can you post a pic, i'd like to see how much bulk it adds.

Thanks.

I ordered the case mate Pop in White and Grey Cant wait to try it!
