Help Caught in the rain

Hi y'all -

So I know all about the rice and stuff like that when a phone gets wet - that's not exactly what this question is about.

I was out walking tonight and got caught in a thunderstorm. I had put my phone in my bra (no pockets - tmi?) so it was against my skin, but I was SOAKED by the time I got home.

Everything works fine now (fingers crossed), but it seems to me like there's a delay when I turn the phone on until the screen comes on. I might just be imagining it though. I have a screen protector and one of those duel soft/hard cases on it (two cases - one neoprene and one plastic, that overlap), and when I took the cases off, everything in the back where the battery is was completely dry.

The screen had been moist, and got some water drops on it, but it didn't get much direct rain on it, seeing as how it was underneath three layers of clothes. Plus it has the protector on.

So my question is - if I did damage to it, would I know now? Or might it show up over time?

I'm a little paranoid because I had an original droid that decided to take a bath last year :(

Thanks for any input and/or stories you can share...

nomad, the Droid Charge has a noticeable delay when starting the phone so you may have no issues. But the best advice is get some rice and a ziplock bag, remove the back and battery, put a small piece of tape over the stereo plug in to keep rice out. Let the phone sit in the rice for 24 hours, should be good to go. Here is a website that talks a little to this process, just a different way:

Hope this helps you!

nomad, read your post again, sorry to bore you with the rice process, but it works... I think your Droid Charge is fine, it is normal for that delay and sometimes it can be a tad bit laggy pending on how you set the phone up. If you use a different home screen launcher than the installed Touchwiz, like Launcher Pro or GO or ADW.

I had put my phone in my bra
HIYOOOO!!! Lucky Charge!!! :p

Anyway, open the phone and remove the battery and see if there's anything pink in there. That'll show whether you have had "warranty-voiding" moisture exposure.

I get paranoid like you too and start imagining things after something like that, so I can understand.
Hmmmm....I live in South Florida, and by the grace of God we're in a bit of drought, but otherwise this should be rainy season. I might have to carry a Zip-Loc baggy with me at all times now....especially after hearing this.

You should of pulled the case and look to see if any water was in the battery area and the inside of the phone. If you had a soft/hard case on it. I doubt any wanter got in to the phone.

Must say I have seen a kitten in a low cut shirt copying the firefox logo but never heard of a perosn putting a phone in a bra?

No pockets or purse?

Dark Jedi - the whole phone-in-bra thing was just taught to me a few weeks ago by someone else who didn't know what to do with her phone when she works out (workout pants don't have pockets and I don't like carrying it in my hand for fear I will drop it!) Feel free to recommend it to any women you know :)

Rominucka thanks for telling me to look for the pink stuff - my indicators on both the battery and the phone are still white with red x's, which is good, right? I think I remember when my original droid took its bath that those x's bleed and that's where the pink comes from, right? And when I put the battery back in, it starts up just fine. I think I was more worried about the screen since that wasn't covered other than by the screen protector, but I think it's all ok.

And thanks for the homescreen launcher alternatives, GunnerJim - I'm going to check those out. I think in my freakout, I was imagining that the delay was worse than it was.

The battery still seems fine, so I'm pretty sure this disaster has been averted. But yes, from now on, I will carry an extra ziploc bag! I'm traveling for work in New Orleans this weekend, and being from sunny California, I went out without even thinking about the possibility of rain. I was a mile away from my hotel when the skies opened up. Lesson learned. Apparently in New Orleans you need to check the weather before you venture out with an expensive water-sensitive toy...erm...phone.

Thanks for the help!
