Root [CDMA] 2.08.651.2 ROM updates - post 'em here!

Yeah the wakeups are very short and uniform. Battery life seemed fairly unaffected but I'm still confused by what keeps waking the phones.

I'm really suspecting the carrier spyware (although as I write this, I haven't confirmed that yet), hence my desire to just try out freeza's kernel.

Ah I hadn't tried that. Gonna give it a go and see what happens.

Edit: Well I installed Freeza's kernel and used Titanium to remove the two iQ programs I saw on the list and it doesn't seem to be doing it. I've only had it on here an hour though so I'll give it more time.

Settings, Accounts, HTC Sense - uncheck HTC Hub and set schedule to manual. Settings, Location - uncheck phone finder.

Please confirm that significantly reduces momentary wakes.

Earlymon, are you going to edit the first post and add all of the new roms and kernals to it?

:p

There are 4 custom roms I see in a row on XDA...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193369 Clean Rom

Woops, there were only 4. Cursed Dragon is actually version 2.2.4. I thought it was a typo.

I see that CleanROM is deodexed. I thought the new practice was to release them odexed. Any comments on that?

Does it even matter?

It does as mentioned to me by Earlymon if you want to flash a new Theme Rom or stay Stock

That only seems to have worked for a while.

An HTC hub account isn't on either phone and phone finder is active on both under 2.3.3 without any of the issues we're seeing with 2.3.4.

This is a screencapture of last night. I left it off the charger and obviously wasn't using it.

Interestingly, in the previous screen it said it was only awake for about 24 minutes. That makes me think it must be some sort of "behind the scenes" process, which could be the phone finder but then they must have broken it from 2.3.3.

Edit: I just checked my router and there are little blips throughout the night, so the phone was doing something on the network...

OK so I don't make a mistake, I am a little confused on all the options for the latest stock update ROM, I want to flash the latest release, but it looks like i need to flash to zips, one for the ROM and the other for the PRL and radio update is that correct or is there a deodexed one that has all

Hi Don - you are going to flash two zip files.

One you do through normal recovery menu options and after that you rename the firmware one and flash it in a special automatic way.

Follow the instructions in post #9 on page 1 of this thread to a T. Do not deviate in any way and it will go smooth and easy.

Be sure Windows doesn't bite you and leave your files named with .zip.zip - I recommend Astro File Manager to make sure.

After that, go into recovery and wipe / clear Dalvik.

Hi Don,

Early's instructions are exactly the method I used and it worked like a charm. Lol, in fact I was almost afraid it was TOO easy ;)

Sorry had a brain fart, you told me this yesterday, lol I was reading the thread over at XDA and said which file now, lol OK going to Nandroid first and will flash the updated stock ROM, then reboot and then load PG86IMG file on root and then reboot again and let allow to update radio and PRI file, then reboot and then I will remove the file, thanks guys, it has been a crazy week at work. Guess does not hurt to ask more question rather than messing something up, LOL

Damn, so use to seeing the status bar move when backing up, was not sure it was working at first, took a while but it did finish, lol will report back once done.

OK all updated, all is good, will play with some ROMS next week when I get a little break, now if they can add an update to fix the speaker issues, LOL, now we should be able to tether now, how about the hotspots does that work, or do we need a custom ROM

As a little update to my earlier post about the radio update. As reception at my house got better, i noticed that i was connecting to 1x instead of 3g. i did a few prl and profile updates and went back to the previous radio. Once I flashed the previous radio, it would not allow me to update prl and profile. However i am getting better reception and none of the 1x that i was having issues with with the new radio.

After flashing the radio updates I can only connect to 1x as well, no 3g. I'm not sure what I should do next. This problem doesn't seem to be too prevalent. 4G and wifi are working fine.....

I could have sworn I read somewhere that the latest release allowed us to use the menu key while in lock screen to send a canned text message if we wanted ? did I dream reading that??

Update on my issue. I got 3g back when I went into ##3282#, Edit Mode, Entered MSL, selected EVDO, selected Automatic, Hit the menu key and commit changes. Reboot.

Well I let it run overnight again, this time with Synergy r334 and this is what it came up with

I've no idea why sense is using up so much processing time. I guess I'm going to install a rom and leave it app-less and see if that results in anything.

Thanks for taking some time on this Earlymon. I hope you can get it figured out because I have no clue where to start. It seems that a lot of battery life could be saved if the phone wasn't waking up throughout the night.
