Root [CDMA] CID default.xml issue

Sorry for needing so much help lately! I have an Evo 3D with ICS 4.0.3 with 2.89, hboot 1.58, and s-on. I was trying to change my boot animation and add boot sound, but when I tried to chan the code in the CID default.xml it changed, but didn't work. Now all I have is the basic android animation. I went back it to restore the first default.xml and it wasn't there. I tried to go into the one I changed and everything was gone! I found a site default.xml - d3rp-ics - our ics rom for the 3d - Google Project Hosting with a CID default.xml code. I copied and pasted it but my phone still only has the basic animation. I changed the code to use the /system/customize/resources/htc_bootanimation.zip but again it is still not working. Please if anyone can help that would be great.

Oh this all started when I used BAC to install boot animations. I was using the rom toolbox to download and changed them myself and everything was great. Then tried some on BAC and everything messed up from there.

Did you back up your original with rom toolbox? If so can you try a restore from that?

I personally like to keep the original and add a .bak to the end and then install a new one. That way if needed you can delete the current and just take the .bak off the original.

When was your last nandroid backup? Would you lose a lot of info if you did a restore at this point?

Also when I was on stock mine was named Sprint_bootanimation.zip

It may be something as simple as that. Maybe it isn't supposed to be named htc_bootanimation?

Another thought I just had. Was the file you downloaded a zip file? Maybe you could install zip through recovery? Just throwing out anything I can think of.

All great ideas to look at thank you. Unfortuanatly I forget to backup things before I mess with them. You would think after so many screw-ups I would by now. I do have a nandroid backup from when I first rooted the phone and installed CM recovery. Would I still have to re-fix the MMS? I flashed to metro

I don't know about that. I've never flashed on another carrier. I would assume that if you applied the mms fix after you made the backup then you would have to do it again.

I don't know what to say! You already know this is why people always say to back things up! Did you try renaming it?

I don't really have any more ideas at this point.

Thank you for all your ideas. I did the nandroid restore and everything is working now. I just need to do the MMS fix. Thanks again for all your help. I will definitely be backing up my phone before messing with it again.

Awesome! After you do that mms patch you should make a new nandroid backup so you don't have to do the patch again.
