So last week i broke my Evo 4g and i started an insurance claim where i was told they were sending me the Evo 3d. During my insurance claim i chose to NOT have the phone activated etc. After filing the claim i went back into the Sprint store and upgraded to the Galaxy S2. The Evo 3D is still sealed in the box. What id like to do it "unlock" it so that a potential buyer can use it on other networks where applicable. I currently have Sprint, so its a Sprint phone of course. I read up the on htcdev and such, but i do not know if this is the "unlock" that everyone asks about when wanting to use the phone on other carriers. I want to sell the phone, but "unlocked" versions of the phone sell for twice the amount of an unopened htc evo 3d. what should i do and where should i be? I downloaded all the requirements from htcdev and than started reading this site and have not even opened the box. I do not even know which color 3d i have lol.

I'm gonna start by saying Samsung eeeck. Lol should of stuck with HTC. Jmo. Anyway if they didn't activate the phone and it hasn't been programmed at all there is absolutly nothing that you have to do in order to sell it. No need to do HTC unlock or anything. You did say it was Sprint so I'm assuming its the cdma version. There is other methods for unlocking gsm phones to other carriers. On a cdma phone unlocked just means the service programming code is set to all zeros. It's not necassary though whoever activates it will be able to do it and or change it if they are gonna use it on another carrier. How much u selling it for?
You can't 'unlock' a CDMA device like GSM devices can be. You can flash a CDMA device to work with another service, but there is no generic setting that will work for any carrier. People flash Evos over to work with Boost, but you couldn't just tell that phone to work on Metro PCS, or Sprint, without flashing something else to it.
You probably see unlocked GSM versions of the Evo 3D online. Those have to be imported from overseas, which is why they cost more. If it's a CDMA Evo 3D (which works with Sprint, Boost, MetroPCS) and claims to be unlocked...it's either a fraud or the poster is an idiot.
So my advice to you is to sell it as-is.

Alright, i see what your saying now. I honestly did not know there was a GSM version of the phone for (at&t, verizon etc.). I honestly dont even know what color was sent to me, but i assume its black since my Evo 4g was black.
The Sprint rep told me to start my claim so insurance can get the ball rolling, than once i had confirmation the claim was accepted to go into the store and upgrade. I did just that, went to my car, called insurance filed claim, chose do not activate and walked back into Sprint and got my Galaxy S2. Yes i was a huge Evo person, i really enjoyed it, but absolutely horrible battery life. This S2 is tons faster and is lighter and better battery life, so im happy for the time being.
Someone mentioned price, i dont know. I see the pricing all over on fleabay, but i posted it on Craigslist and at my schools bulletin board asking $375 as that puts me even from filing the claim and the cost of the S2. I know i could fetch a little more on ebay, but than id have ebay/paypal fees that i would need to eat.
If someone here is interested in it just send me a msg or email. Ive got 100% positive feedback 50+ sales on ebay and i also use heatware from sales on EVGA.com through the marketplace so i am an honest and reputable seller / buyer.

few things, the gsm is in canada and europe not the us, second, yes the s2 is better than the evo 4g but imho not the evo 3d. samsung makes great tvs and bad phones. i have seen more people get the 3d, want the s2 then come back to the 3d. If i were you, i would have held my upgrade for the quad core phones that may be coming sooner than later. the small quad core processors are getting more and more press on engadget just saying. I would love to always own an "evo" but idk. the only samsung phone id buy is the nexus but that is a diff beast than the s2. have fun and good luck.

HTC tweeted yesterday somthing iconic was gonna happen. Without a doubt the OneX. +1 on the Samsung thing. But he isn't the first person to just assume the 3d is the same as the EVO but a 3d camera. Anyways this is my 3rd 3vo haven't paid more than 200 all were perfect shape. And I even have hboot 1.4 again. Btw wake69 I saw you being a mod last night in the cm9 thread. I was about to post over there but didn't want my question in the middle of that hogwash.
