Root [CDMA] Custom kernel on stock ROM....

ANother question. I am trying to simplify my phone experience and dammit if this thing is not a PIA. Be very glad if you rooted via Revolutionary!!!

Anyway, I am rooted via Hboot 1.5. I am trying to go back to a stock ROM so I downloaded the deodexed version of the shooter ROM in that other thread. I flashed it but my old custom kernel is leftover from the previous ROM?????? THere is a stock kernel with this stock ROM. Why did it not flash with the ROM???

I realize that I can flash via fastboot and get the kernel that comes with the ROM....this just surprised me as I thought a stock kernel would flash.

With htc unlock you can not write to /boot so you can not flash kernel without booting to recovery through fastboot. It has been explained thoroughly

Wake, I am very well aware of that. I was flashing a stock ROM with a stock kernel. And I had a custom kernel "leftover" from a previous ROM. I guess I just misunderstood that to mean that you could flash a stock kernel but not a custom kernel....which is not the case...I guess it means ANY kernel custom or otherwise....
